xr steering, but no throw?

Hi guys. Tried to do some research on this. sorry, if its mentioned before. i did the xr steering mod and have plenty of steering until i attach steering to the servo. I know the basics, longer steering horn etc. the steering servo im using is a savox 1231sg. Did i do somethine wrong? Can i buy anything to preogram this servo to have more throw. Please help!!! With it the way it is, i kind of feel like i wasted the money for the XR steering mod. I see all your builds (that are sick by the way) with way more steering than i am achieving.

thanks in advance!

Pics would help...without pics it sounds like your servo is programmed for 90* of rotation.

Not sure about Savox, but hitec HS_79xx series can easily be programmed to swing 90 deg each way. But they are not overly effective as the lateral movement of the ball does not change much after 60 deg swing, if you know what I mean.

You can also use longer horn or shorter knuckle arm (axial's wraith one is ZA and pretty cheap to try).

There is also the matter of endpoints...are you using a tx that lets you adjust them?

thanks guys. Dont understand why savox does not sell a programmer like hitec does. Looks like i will be looking for a good hitec, and a programmer. Yes i can adjust my endpoints, it helped some. I ordered longer steering arms on here from crawler calvin, but i have a set for a wraith that i will try to see if that will give me a little more as well.

That will decrease your steering angle for a given servo swing but more leverage. Use a longer horn to increase throw (but decrease leverage).

Don't buy a hitec servo before you post some pic of your current setup. I think most people have plenty of steering without programming the servo.

Programming servo is done by reducing its resolution. So its movement is no as refined but give 30 deg more swing.

I use a 4pl, but it is loaned out right now. Wheni played with it last night i turned the epas up. not sure what ur asking about dual rate?

Setting 0-100% on stearing angle/throw ... it is in the manual. Stock trim button would be DT3 (upper thumb button) so perhaps you accidentally pushed it when using the RX ... could be

Re: xr steering, but no throw?

Typical servo swing is +/- 45* from straight down. First thing you need to determine is whether you're getting that much swing. If so, you have a mechanical issue in the linkage or arms. If not you have an electrical or control issue.

Front pictures with the servo at it's two extremes should verify how much rotation you're getting.

savox does have less throw than hitec out of the box, but it can be equally as effective, i have a savox on my xr10 and i get as much or more throw than others in my club.

Do you have a straight on shot of the front axle...your servo horn looks suspicious...

Let me know if this is what u guys need. Am I being picky? I had this much throw before all the mods. Any suggestions are welcomed. Let me know if u need more pictures.

How about a couple of head-on shots (not overhead) of the servo with the horn full left and full right? Also, the overhead shot without the body looks like more steering angle than the body shot. What's going on there?

How long is your horn, center to center?
