Default Lazy & Crazy Build: Learning as "we" go.

Hey Folks!
I have tried a sporty build before, but I lost interest. (Went way too much over the top) Now I'm back trying to make it with the least amount of $$$. And being my usual stupid ass self, I decide to finish it up with last minute build.
Oh plus I ran out of time to figure out how to make the rear axle wider. Any help would help.

SPECS:
GC-3A Chassis
Tekin esc
Tekin 45t
86 spur/13 pinion
Robinson Steer Diff Gear
Traxxas Drive Shafts
Losi 4in shocks (Front limited to 3.5) Gold springs
Hitec 7950
CC Bec
Creation Fab Front Axle Mod
XR10 front stock drives
Stock XR10 knuckles with HR C-hubs
VP DH V1's in the front with 4oz slugs (2in each)
VP DH V2's rear
Rovers all around
If I missed anything let me know.

Looking good Bryce! That setup is definitely a good performer!

Wider rear hubs would probably be the cheapest and most effective way to increase the rear width. The next option...and my choice...would be to have someone like CREEPERBOB or Hulksta make some new rear shafs to use with Wraith lockouts...or you could use stock Wraith long sides and dremel new drive tangs to make them work. The other option is using a set of the delrin tubes from Chris The Battery Man on the rear like you did with the front.

I have the widest hubs for the dh's. So I might try and see if the slw hubs work on it. I knew about the wraith mod, but time and money are not on my side right now.
Also forgot to mention. Took it out for the first test run the tranny pulled out the screws from the chassis. So it flopped around and nicked a few teeth on the spur against the cahssis plate. Now that son'bitch is shoe gooed down screws and all. The next run I hope is tomorrow morning.

If you cannot go wider, maybe the slw that look like the dh wheels. Keeps you from having to buy a set of 4.

I'm more for function than looks. Thanks Ted I'll look into that as well.

One other thing, I know the slw hubs stack together. You might has to add some screws, maybe drill out the front hub, or just use the 3-6 hub screws to hold the wheels on, but if you can stack them, it would be easy.

Joel and I were talking about this mod. I am just wondering if I would run out of room on the stud so I can't bolt it on. But I'm willing to give it a try.

Round 2 of breaking.
Tranny did great, but the Creation Fab tubes didn't fair as well. Apparently the CA glue, screws and Aluminum braces I put on the axle case couldn't hold up to a tumble. So they broke free and were spinning freely inside the case like I never glued them. The reasoning behind that set up was that I didn't want a permanent set up in case I wanted to take the axle apart later on without much trouble.
Now I said "F it" and I'm going with a solution that should remedy the problem. I have one last day (@ home) to test before heading to the WC Shoot out this weekend. A little quick set Epoxy along the tubes and on the seems should do the trick. I have used this stuff on everything from around my house to my truck and quad with no problems. I like it better than JB Weld, because its sets in 5 minutes and it's at full strength in 1 hour.

Plus if I have time tomorrow before work I am going to try and make it to the hardware store to pick up some longer screws so I can try the double up hubs idea for the rear that Ted suggested.

Well. the good news first. The stacking hubs mod worked with a little head scratching at first. Had to sandwich the wheel nut between the 2 hubs for it to work. You can barely see it on the one shot.

The thing was working great...until snap again.

I am over these tubes. They are not working out for me. (As you can see) I guess they can't handle hitec power. I think the idea is good, but it needs work. I will going a different route on the front axles, in which the hub fix will be going away as well. But now I know at least it worked.
Everything else on the truck is working great. Now for plan B for the WCshootout

I run a setup like this on my super. Just drill out the center of the hub to be able to fit your wheel nut wrench.

Good lord man, are you trying to ride this truck when they break?

Seriously, what version are you using? Are the only bolts you are using to hold it into the housing the ones I see on top?

Yep just the 4 on the top with the aluminum braces. I'm not even running it that hard. I haven't even made it through a whole battery yet.

I think that might be your issue. On my first set of tubes, I used those holes (along with others) and it seemed to spread the case apart. IMO, it is best to set them up like this:

Thanks Jeremy. I'll try that out see if it helps. Unfortunately I don't have the time to work on it before the shootout. But plan B is in full affect.

Plan B worked....as in I borrowed Paystin's Losi to run at the WestCoast Shootout. Driving another rig and talking with JeremyH has given some new ideas for the build. So thanks again Chris for the loaner car.

I couldn't believe that you broke it in the first two minutes of driving it. You and your "electric hands" causin all sorts of glitchn' and what not. Glad you got it figured out and were able to run on Friday, even if the snow made it a little tough at times.
