Default 63COMET'S SUDU ONE 2.2Shafty

My first shafty build advanced as far as possible(and surprisingly well) with the old tech black widow chassis so now onto something much better.
I picked up a NCD sudu one chassis along with the lower links including both sets of rear lowers. I have to say all the pruducts from NCD are excellent and this is no different. I started adding pics to my old build thread then i realized this chassis should have its own build thread. Here im using the high clearance rear lowers.

The axles are going to stay similar to what i had already. The front axle uncludes:
od gears
creation fab wide delrin splined tubes
Vp wraith knuckles
Stock xr universals...clearanced
the servo and battery are mounted as low and forward as possible
no steering link or servo horn in front of the axle
The receiver, bec and decased sidewinder are mounted above the driveshaft as low as possible(i will adjust it lower than pictured)
a shortened mip shaft
A home made front upper link mount

As for the rear axle its pretty much stock except for underdrive gears and a stock steal locker that i drilled to remove a little weight.
here are a few pictures of what ive assembled so far using spare parts i had. As time goes on i will change and modify a few things:

I made a few small adjustments on things, bolted on my rovers/hpi blitz wheel combo...ive never spun a hex on these wheels and they worked great the last comp.
the clearance on this is really good and the cg still seems nice and low. I think i may do the shock cap mod on these bb.

The forward bias is what i like also. I havnt been running any added weight on my 2.2pro secret agent or my old shafty, i dont think i will on this either.

3.488 lbs rtr (sorry about the upside down pic).
I'm also working on a new body.

thank you, this chassis was well thought out and i look forward to winning with it. There are alot of impressive sudu builds going on. I wanted the low profile of the losi body it looks good on this chassis.

Those are the ones. You trim narrow the wheel where it begins to widen from the 2.2 to the 3.0 diameter. The rm turns out to be .75" wide.

Be careful though as there are 2 versions of the each blitz whel. One has the 2.2 outer and then immediately steps up to the 3.0 diameter like the Proline protract wheels and the other version starts at 2.2 and then has a cone shape up to the 3.0 diameter. You want the cone shaped one.

Also, 63comet, are those plastic/composite wheel hexes? I was running AE graphite composite wheel hexes for quite some time on my Berg. They fit super tight into the Blitz wheels, but the pin drive pocket on the back side was too shallow and if the wheel nut became slightly loose they would spin out and wallw the groove. If your's are plastic, what brand are they and do they provide full pin engagement?

Tsk is right, thanks. I dont have any part numbers but here is a picture of the blitz wheels i use...before and after. Also, the wide grey hex is a plastic traxxas part. The pin slot is fairly deep and i have to pry the hex off the pin with a flathead screw driver. I havnt spun a hex in these wheels yet, im not real crazy on the throttle usually though.

Looks like you're going to be very competitive in the Sporty class this year Comet, good luck with the new rig.
