Re: Tapped-out's 5th Dimension Sucker Punch Had this rig out today.... For a shake down the only adjustments I had to make from initial set-up. Is outboard the upper links & move the rear upper links @ the rear link mount from the bottom to the top and out two holes... much better "thumbsup" http://imageshack.com/a/img534/5682/54ak.jpgUploaded with ImageShack.com http://imageshack.com/a/img209/155/pbty.jpgUploaded with ImageShack.com I ran this rig hard today and busted one of the rear wheels:lmao: Can't go wrong with a sucker Punch"thumbsup" I'll post up a video 2maro:mrgreen: |
Re: Tapped-out's 5th Dimension Sucker Punch Man that was fast:ror Definitely looks like you need o go to shorter front lowers and slightly longer rears. The chassis is rocked forward quite a bit more than I planned for. Ideally the shock mounts should be level to each other. But otherwise, for basically just swapping everything over, it's pretty darn close. Good luck at the comp |
Re: Tapped-out's 5th Dimension Sucker Punch Nice! Love the thread man. Reminds of one of those cooking shows where the show the ingredients, mix em, toss em in the oven and and 3 secs later pull out a perfectly roasted turkey. I can relate with the work thing, it definitely sucks trying to build a truck, a month before nats and get it tuned while working 12-16hr shifts. |
Re: Tapped-out's 5th Dimension Sucker Punch Shakedown went really well yesterday. We had a WCRCC SSS comp on sat... I updated post 2 with some adjustments I made @ comp. A course from yesterday... sss sucker punch shake down.wmv - YouTube |
Re: Tapped-out's 5th Dimension Sucker Punch Truck looks pretty damn good for just being slapped together like that. Keep up the great work |
Re: Tapped-out's 5th Dimension Sucker Punch Rig is ready for Nats.... Here's my set-up for Nationals. Upper links: front links @ axle are bolted under the BWD link mount @ chassis 2nd hole from top. Rear links @ axle are bolted on top of the BWD link mount @ chassis top hole. Shocks: scx10 F/R 35wt CI spring cups front shocks have LosiMini-T silver springs. Rear shocks have Losi MRC silver springs Also cleaned up my electronics http://imageshack.us/a/img821/2830/hf8s.jpg http://imageshack.us/a/img834/5115/emzc.jpg http://imageshack.us/a/img836/497/vv3g.jpg http://imageshack.us/a/img203/2008/nxk7.jpg |
Re: Tapped-out's 5th Dimension Sucker Punch Vlimey that's bright! i'm glad the truck didn't take much tuning to get her feeling just right. Be sure to get plenty of video at nats. |
Re: Tapped-out's 5th Dimension Sucker Punch I like your little "bumper" for the servo.... What color and brand of the spray paint you used for the body? |
Re: Tapped-out's 5th Dimension Sucker Punch What no orange or yellow? ha ha. I like the green buddy. Quote:
Whats that long ass bolt and spacer for on the steering knuckle from the drag link? Looks like a nice rock hook to me? Also cant you just take the red arm and bolt completely off the passenger side since your not using it? IDK maybe its just me. |

Re: Tapped-out's 5th Dimension Sucker Punch I know I have to make something similar to that stop. I'm hoping I can use something shorter with a hollow ball at the bottom. |

With the wheel on no way it can catch on a rock."thumbsup" |
Re: Tapped-out's 5th Dimension Sucker Punch Quote:
With all of the steering these rigs have now...the servo literally gets pushed past its EPA's when bound & you lose its use until you can pop outta said bind. Rig looks good Matt! Im stoked ya got her running & feel confident enough in her outta the gate to debut her at Nats. See ya in a few brutha from anutha... J.D. |

Thanks .. I think I'm going to get a small piece of alum to replace my servo gaurd. |
Re: Tapped-out's 5th Dimension Sucker Punch Thanks for the info. It comes up good. For the aluminum servo guard, check out my backyard job.... http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/j...706_000349.jpg |
Re: Tapped-out's 5th Dimension Sucker Punch So I thew the rig on the scale yesterday W/battery no wheels or KWs. It came in @ 2.5lbs (just like in post 7 pic 4 W/battery). In no way did I try to build a light weight rig. (all steel hardware) Where is a good spot for front bais? Right now W/O KW & wheels it's about 3/16" past (twards the front axle) where the front lower links bolt to the chassis. |
Re: Tapped-out's 5th Dimension Sucker Punch How are you liking the soft springs? Mine seemed a little too soft on the bench, but without any drive time I can't tell. Quote:

Re: Tapped-out's 5th Dimension Sucker Punch Quote:
I swapped these shocks/axle from my old 2.2s rig and was happy with them.. I'll be keeping an eye on your build to see how you set-up Your shocks. |
