First of all, super mini is too cool. Does it have a place anywhere? No, but I love the damn thing. Congrats to you and anyone that through in on the idea. I hear too much of " comp crawling is dead" to think that machine is anything but awesome. Your sportsman and your driving are no joke. It only takes 1 major " oh shit" per comp to be at the bottom of the day. I know, I live there. You were humble and fun to be around all day. It's the stuff I look for in our club. We have a club full of drivers that at any point could have an " oh shit" free day and win something big. Sure Troy wins most of the events but I don't see that being a trend that is unbreakable. That's not a cut on Troy. It's a testament to how seriously we take our machines and comps. I hope to see you at everyone this season. The more drivers the better!

So I narrowed the hubs

Then I shaved a bit of each tube end.

Seemed like a really good idea at the time.

Unfortunately, the single screw didn't hold up to the abuse.

I put four screws in each hub after that, but the damage was either already done, or it wasn't ever going to work.

Attachment 310180

Here you can see the damage all the screws did.

So I bought this handy cutter for my dremel and some VP scale hubs with the very cool "clamping" feature.

Since I removed 6mm of the spline, I needed to remove 6mm of the tube so the hubs could slide on all the way.

I have a new axle here, but wanted to 'test my skills' on this one first. I didn't even take it out of the car.

Surprisingly it turned out really nice.

I'll likely run this one for a while and just bench build the new one. Then it can be a simple swap at some point.

Attachment 310182

Knuckles and steering back in place.

Attachment 310183

I still need to tap the bolts top and bottom of each one.

Happy with the outcome. Feels very solid.

Just wondering... did you have to cut the axle shafts down or was it really just as simple as a little cutting and grinding of the hubs and housing? Doing this would put my track width exactly where I want for my wroncho. Thanks in advance!!

I had to cut the inner axle shafts down, of course.

The axle is no longer full width.

It's not that difficult to remove a bit, then file down new tangs to fit the locker.

Re-read my post, I strongly suggest you leave the c-hubs uncut.

Just shave the AR60 housing behind the ribs, so the stock-width hubs will slide on further.

Otherwise, go for it!

Well hello from page five.....it's been a while.

Not a big deal, but I did some horse trading with a friend and ended up with a set of Dravpnir Cyclone wheels for my 2.2 sporty.

I needed a new body to keep the wheels from looking like a primer colored Civic with $3000 rims.......so I did this very subtle Xciter.

I can't wait to try it out.

I've never tried the rear wheels inverted. I also removed some beef tubes from the rear axle that I've had forever.
Overall, the rear is 2oz lighter. I'm not sure what I was thinking up to this point, lol.
Bias went from 70/30 to 60/40 just like that......hmmmm

Thanks guys. This hobby is as much the building for me, as it is the competing.

If I spent as much time driving, as I do tinkering, I'd actually be good at this game, lol

Got the old girl out today.

It's been damp and rainy around here, but there was a small window this afternoon to stretch out the legs.

The rocks were very wet, and traction stunk; but there was just enough bite to break a rod end on the rear lower.

Quick tailgate fix, and I was back on the rocks.

The new 60/40 bias seems decent. I'll need to get more wheel time to know for sure.

I'm thinking about getting some Voodoo tires for this rig, all the cool kids are doing it.....

Fun day, anyway.
