Very sweet Brian. I'm very much looking forward to the resurgence of this class in our groups. With this sick build, it may feel like a long winter

Thanks David. I as well am looking forward to a 2.2S class. Between this build and other plans I have, winter time will seem like a lifetime I am thinking. It is gonna be a great season next year.

So I came home to some NCD awesomeness today. Tomi is a great guy to deal with and definitely goes out of his way to keep a customer happy.

I didn't have a chance to mount the plates on the axles, as I got busy on the shocks for this rig. I did some research and found a great thread on a "properly" built SCX shock. I wasted no time getting everything that was suggested by the thread author. Here's where I started.

Stock SCX shocks
HPI bladders
Losi shock rebuild kit
Axial aluminum Icon bodies
Associated Green Slime
Mini T spring cups and delrin preload collars

So to get started I tore down the stockers and kept basically everything except the bodies to reuse. One stock oring, the spacer and one Losi oring are what make up the bottom end now.

Cover them in slime and install. Stock oring first, spacer, then the Losi oring.

And for the caps, remove and discard the stock orings. These will be replaced by the HPI bladders.

Three holes are drilled in each cap. Two on the side (one slightly higher then the other) and one in the top of the cap to let the bladder do it's job.

Install the bladders inside the caps.

Now for assembly, install the shafts and tighten the bottom up snug. Install the spring cup, rod end, spring, then collar. Fill with shock oil, install caps and bleed out, and they are finished.

These shocks are super smooth and should have minimal leakage.

All that work and no machined pistons

The X rings from kyosho is a good alternative to the Losi rings s well

But alas, I still prefer Big Bores over SCX based shocks.

I had contemplated the machined pistons. Just too pricey to me for what you get.

Someday I may try big bores. Someday Travis.

Looking good man. There's ALOT of love into those shocks, I just got a set on icon shocks with the machined pistons they feel pretty good. I'm just feeling too damn lazy to work on the truck every time I get back from a big comp the damn thing gets tossed In the garage for a week or too.

Thanks Boosted. I feel ya man. I get lazy with this build somedays, but I don't have a deadline to finish it, so I guess I can at times. I'm a bit of a perfectionist and slight OCD, therefore lazy is good when it means everything will be exactly how I intended when I'm finished.

I'll x2 what Travis said about the pistons. I was skeptical about dropping the coin on them for the same reason you stated...seems like you don't get much. After putting them in the shocks on my XR and my Berg recently all I can say is...they're worth it

Now I need to pick up some o-rings to help seal them up...thanks for the write-up

Things are starting to come together a bit faster than I thought. Recieved links for the rear lowers today and got to work mocking this thing up. I still have a few small bits here and there that I need so for now it has temporary aluminum front uppers for mock up. Rear axle shafts should be here soon and I still need a tie rod and just a couple of small things. A motor rebuild will be coming as well and then electronics will be going in. But for right now..............................................

Thanks David. I'm extremely happy with the way this chassis was designed.
