Default Samasara.....a Suckerpunch Sporty

So with the season coming to and end and talks of a dedicated 2.2S class for next year, I figured I better get to it and build one. This is going to be a drawn out build since I don't need to be in any kind of rush.

I have to say thanks to Travis at 5th Dimension for making such a great piece of artwork with the new chassis. It's absolutely stunning once in hand and put together. Very, very nice craftsmanship and everything fits together perfectly.

I will be replacing the SS hardware with aluminum once it arrives.

Picked up a set of axles in trade and am waiting on some goodies to show for them and then I can get down to some business with the drivetrain.

Hoping to get at it tomorrow to get some link measurements and get them ordered and on the way. That's all for the moment until the axle goods show up.

Samasara in Hindu means the endless cycle of birth, death and rebirth. Figured it's fitting for something that is constantly changing.

That's too funny Travis. I just told Marzzz today I bet I'd get it finished before him.

Nice little start man, I like the builds that take time. Everything seems to get a little more thought out. Can't wait to see this evolve, if ya need link lengths or anything hit me up.

While waiting for some things to show, today I figured I would work with what I do have. I harvested the tranny out of my Wroncho since it's already loaded with RRP gears. I ran it flipped and mirrored in that rig, so I tore it back apart, flipped it back to stock and cleaned and regreased everything.

While I was at it I decided to take a little meat off the outputs. While I am not sure they are gonna hold up, I figured why not try right?

Now I did not know up until this point, that the AX and SCX top shafts are different in length. So after buttoning up the trans and proceeding to install it, I ended up with this.

Not gonna work like that! In trying to avoid having to wait on the correct top shaft, I played around with a few ideas. The plan was to keep the slipper assembly only I went ahead and eliminated the actual "slipper".

Three holes through the backside threaded for M3 hardware and it was all set.

For the top shaft, I took it to a buddy of mine and he turned it down on a lathe and I turned around an 1/8 of an inch of fresh thread on it.

It ended up being just enough. A Traxxas bushing for a spacer, a regular 4mm nut with some blue loctite and a cut of the shaft to flush it all up and I ended up with the clearance I was looking for.

Nice mods to the output and slipper. For some reason I just forgot people still run those

Keep up the good work

Great, quick thinking. From realizing the issue to fix was literally an hour or 2. Very nice!!

Thanks Travis. I'm not usually too hard on my rigs so I'm curious to see how they hold up. Won't be much to replace them if one lets loose.

Thanks David. I was fortunate enough to meet a guy a few months back with a lathe. So I can incorporate that into my thinking process now.

Nice work recycling parts to get this build going.
Fits the name you've chosen perfectly.
Good looking chassis you picked. Very sleek and smooth.

Glad to hear there may be a 2.2s class next season.
If you look at the numbers, the AX10 thread has all others beaten by a landslide (double the posts of 2nd place).
Sporty's are the only current threads going in the AX10 section.
Therefore, mathematically speaking, sporty's should be top dog.

So I built one.
I was quite disappointed to learn they aren't even on the roster at local comps.

Thank you good sir. I started my comp experience last season with EPARCC running a slightly modified LNC. It was frustrating to be running in the Pro class hence the reason for building an XR10. It's refreshing though to go back to a setup like I started with.

You did well with your sporty at Rausch Creek. Most important thing is you didn't shy away from trying.

I wanted to wait and update when everything shows up for the axles, but I couldn't go without getting these in here now. I'm very happy I ended up making this choice since Grip Fab makes some beautiful spools. Along with them came a little bit of BWD love, which meant tearing down the trans one more time. In the end it was well worth it.

I've also decided to go a different direction with the electronics for this rig.

More on that very soon.

Just figured I would let everyone know I'm still kickin.

It's been quite the waiting game for parts to arrive and my anxiety is getting the best of me at this point. A bit of goodies that have arrived in the last few days.

Got my front lowers done (old uppers from my DD) and in the process of ordering some ti links for the rear lowers. Thanks Travis for length info on those.
