If you didn’t catch it, one of the biggest reasons for doing this axle was to get my perfect width. I struggled with the AR60 to get narrow enough and with AX/SCX axles, you’re just not wide enough and I didn’t want to run extensions. Now, I am exactly where I want since I can make the tubes any length. I can make these axles for just about any driveshaft car from Ultra4 cars, to Yeti rear, SCX10 and obviously sportys. I am running close to 10.5" wide now. I have options to go as wide as I want or even narrower. This is the amount of scrub and width I wanted from the get go though. I also switched out my brass knuckles for 7075 versions since I have so much weight below the knuckle, I don’t think I needed the extra of the knuckle itself. I also am testing out a newer version of attaching the loaded dice weights to the knuckle. It’s kind of super version meets bolt on version. So far I like it a lot because its super simple to move the weights back and forth since I can see myself slightly tweaking the track width in the front end. Here are some pics I took while on the rocks. Thanks for checking this thread out and be sure to check the full write up of the 1808 axles in the Wraith section! Last edited by Erik D_lux; 02-11-2015 at 09:07 AM. |

Now that's what I am talking about Almost pm'd you, asking about doing delrin tubes on the 1808 axles once I saw them yesterday.. But, I figured I would wait. I knew you would release something like this, just didn't expect so soon. Like I said about the yeti/wraith versions.. a sweet product like this from you doesn't suprise me. Simply amazing |

Because someone asked it about the wraith version, I gotta ask here. What does your complete front axle weigh in at?

Thanks man! Weight is a good question.... I never did weigh it. It was in and out of my car so many times and I never had it "complete" out of the car really since this was the first I made. If I end up taking it back out, I will get a weight however,... I am not sure it will ever get done, I am thinking of selling this car. |

Selling? Awe man. But understandable with the lack of comp scene there in SLC.

Even though its the comp scene thats slow, I think I just like the opposite end of the spectrum when it comes to crawling. I would be more interested in a 1/3 scale super with 8 wheels.

I love building regardless of what others do or want. But I can understand not wanting to put money into something that wont be used as much.

My standby idea of a 1.9 MRC with dig and rear steer is still a solid idea. I just need backing. Seriously though, how sick would that be?

Some kind of wheel base and track width Max would have to be, wouldn't it? What would a gate width be regulated by or be? Plans are rolling now.. Even if only for fun.. |

Why would you want to regulate the track width or wheelbase? I would just let technology and trial and error figure those out. If you wanted to build a car that has a 24" wheelbase on 4.25" tires, more power to you. I dont think it will be beneficial. Same for track width when your gates are 10" (?) wide. Everybody might start out different but would eventually end up close to the same. Then the cool part is when somebody comes up with a different idea than the rest and blows their ideas out of the water. What I really like about supers and what I would really like to see in the hobby again is a personal twist on cars. It would be awesome to have a guy show up with a 7" wide, 12" wheelbase car and compete with a guy who is 9.5" wide and 18" wheelbase. May the best man and ideas win, innovation would rule. |
