I'm surprised more people don't run a standoff under those types of servo plates. It's pretty much mandatory IMO.

Hi Steve, do you have pics of ur setup? Build thread? Need a little more info to give good feedback.

I have tried many different set ups for steering and have come back to the CW crawler steering arms with a chaotic bent tie rod underneath.

The servo setup was the tricky part, but...
Any struggle/issue I had, I worked out on the last couple pages and shown with pics. Its been working awesome as is! One more change and I should have it perfect.

One more change has arrived..

A double horn!? Yep!!! Why?? Glad you asked..

Cause of the options that are available with it..
Short was too short and the long one was too much(without working it over)..
Here's how.. Or how I'm thinking..

Name: uploadfromtaptalk1394777981730.jpg
Views: 829
Size: 39.2 KB

If I use the top arm, it keeps the revo end out away from the servo and the horn in away from the shock. Which can be perfect for my shocks with the offset link end on em..
For a set of shocks with straight link ends, the bottom arm can be used to get the horn in away from the shocks a little and still keep the revo end from the drag link away from the servo..
The arm you don't use can be cut off.
The catch... The holes in the horn arms are like the spare holes in a set of Shift hubs.. They are drilled but not threaded. So you will need a 3mm tap to run this horn. If I find one that's tapped, I'll post it..

My new set of wheels showed up.. NCD wheels.. Now I can setup my new, to me, set of tires to run..

Nice find on the double horn. That little difference in the depth could prove to be huge.

My bad... The horn is a AHZ horn.. I have a couple now and have found them to be a very nice horn.. Full teeth splines and everything! Only the double arm has to be tapped for 3mm.

So I was off to David's(Crawllife) yesterday and happen to be going right past one of our sickest "local" crawl spots, like 1.5-2hrs away, so I popped in for some packs.
The HIGH traction rock can make a rig do some funky things, but didn't seem to be so much the case with the el nino. The High traction made the rig do some Incredible thing's!
I didn't get many but got a few pics.. I can't wait to start comping and spend more then an hour throwing down!

First 2 pics are what it looks like just driving up the road..

Finally got to the AHZ horn. I used the offset side and it's just about perfect.

I also noticed 4 spots in my paint.. So I did some hand filling.

Shaved off the 4 "horn's" on the end of each end of the chassis..

Ready ready ready for the comp on the 30th!

Seems like it's been a while.. Good thing it's a worth while update..
Comp yesterday.. proved to be a ruff day, overall, course wise.
The sporty held its own and then some.

The Holmes Br mini paired with a 13t HH Team pro crawl has been a knock out combo for me and no plans to change out (at this time..)

Anyways... Time for some video of the 1st place runs!

But first, show off some team and vendor wear.. (Don't mind the rig) pic by Turbofest

I didn't get any video, but.. In at ECC this weekend on some sick rock with some down ass dudes!

At the end of the day, I felt rig was 100% all day and on point..
Took a 5th place finish today, bein 1 point behind 3rd and 4th after 5 courses.
Between the company, rock, and comping.. Who could ask for a better day!

Thank you Travis..

The rig was flawless.. I want to thank HH for the superior ESC and motor that kept my rig in a solid smooth start up and easy crawling, with a Br mini and a 13t Team pro crawl. I had all the torque and punch I could need! Zero issues with either..
CW crawlers for keeping my steering at top notch and bein able to handle the binds and power from a 7980. With only the threads holding my screw's in. (Not threaded thru and nut'd) .. Also a shout out for the snug fit of lattice innovations Shift hubs and the multiple options and quick changes to the width of the offset with the included spacer's.

A comp for EPAcrawler at Rausch Creek 4x4 club today was a blast and as always a blast to be at and enjoy the company of crawlers 1/10 and 1:1 alike..

The rig is handling extremely well and landed me 3 perfect courses for 1st place.

Overall... Not so bad. I let a small personal issue mind F me on the first course. Then I pulled my head out of my a$$ and drive pretty good.
got 2nd place. But don't be to excited for me, lol, it was only out of 3 shaftsmen.

It's ask good tho, I got all the stupid out and laid a 1st place down in pro. ;)

Which leads to my newest update..
I Love my HH crawl motors! After running David's SP with the HH 30t 400 puller we mounted up on build day, I knew I had to get another and get one mounted up for myself!

After pulling my HH 13t Team pro crawl, which has been a amazing motor and took me to many top finishes, I tore the tranny down for lube and to be mirrored. At which time, I realized on the last tranny swap, I put the wrong one in and have been running stock tranny gears for a couple months now!
So a full metal gear trans went in, cause I don't think the stock gears would hold up to the torque I experienced with David rig.

The 56t spur just barely touched the chassis side plate, so I put some thin traxxas aluminum spacer's in and made it perfect.

Now just to figure out what I'm goin to do about the motor plate!

I have a couple packs thru it on my home course and so far, I'm Stoked! It's Banana's, to at the least. Have to get it out on my normal crawling spot for some more testing.. One more update to come after this.

Out to Palmerton on Sunday for the last comp before BG's.. Took a 2nd place for the day!

I made some changes to the rear shocks before hand and it just didn't feel the same. Internal micro springs, to try and keep a lower cog and better side hilling. I also spaced them out at the axle.. Well, I think the spacing at the axle took spring rate down and actually softened things up.. So I'll either space at the chassis or go back to straight mounted to the shock razors..
Time for final pretty for BG!
