In theory it should be better because the line drawn through the kingpin and the mounting hole for the tie rod will put it close to the center of the axle thus doing the opposite of what we have now the inside tire would turn sharper than the out side. Ultimately this might create other issues like tires scrubbing links and such and how any of this really matters on a 1/10 scale Im not sure. It is just theory.

I suppose I see that as a downside. I like the outside turning sharper.

Yep...me too. In most cases the outside tire is going to be the one with weight being applied to it. The only possible downside i can see to having the outside turn sharper is the tendency...on some rigs...for that tire to try to walk up and under the axle causing the inside tire to lift. This can be worked around though...and is typically more of an issue on a rig with front dig.

Edited my post to reflect that the rear axle is 9.350" from mounting surface to mounting surface.

This all makes no sense. Why pick which tire you're going to steer sharper....just turn them both....
With all the cars I have setup, one tire (usually the inside tire) usually stops the steering. So, instead of having both tires at 60*, I choose to have my inner at 60* and my outer at 65*. I see that extra 5* on the outer as a benefit in more than one way.

All the while, no obvious gains to be had by doing so.

What am I missing?
I dont see it as the same amount of fab work???... You dont have to fab anything the way we are doing it. Just stock housings. Thats part of the point and one of the parts I like. If anything happens to the housing, buy a new one and bolt everything back on. Maybe nothing will ever happen but I like the idea of stock parts if I am out of town at a qualifier and I break something I could possibly hit the next hobby store.

One big gain by doing this is the amount of scrub or lack there of.

You need to buy knuckles and knuckle weights so why not just buy these ones that give you more options?

I guess I see it being significantly easier and significantly better. To each their own though.

Not to mention the cost of buying OFNA uni's and Axial uni's to get one useable set.
I didn't modify the hub for this axle. I modified my .225 delrin hub for my mini axle to essentially the hub on my sporty. -

As for the universals I use ofna stubs I already had on the wraith inner for a couple reasons. 1 I already purchased the wraith universals from ittybitty with the axles I planned on running. 2 I knew the wraith inner would be slop free with the FI spools I'm running (which end up causing a weird wobble till I clearanced them a bit). -

Only issue with track width was trying to achieve 0 Ackerman which required a skinny wheel which pushed the width out a bit cause of tire bulge.

I did have to modify the stubs to accommodate the zero offset these knuckles offer.-

The universals well if I didn't already own both parts off my universals (OFNA stub wraith inner) I'd have OFNA unis all the way.1 they work much better with ax10 chubs 2 They are made of much better metal.-

Yes my minimum track width is 10 3/4. I personally see no reason to be narrower.-

As far as 8* vs non 8* I'm fairly sure the track width would be within a 1/16th of each other, but let me check the chubs before you hold me to it.-

It would seem that my questions, concerns, and difference of opinion has come out all wrong.

I never meant to bash anybody's efforts, ideas, methods, or particularly this build.

I've deleted my posts since I no longer find them to be of a constructive nature.

Sorry for cluttering your thread Wheels7.

Thank you sir. The weather has been awesome here for the last couple weeks.
With the very little drive time I got it felt good. But found I needed some tuning for sure. I hope to get some more drive time this week

How re you liking the sway bar? I just recently finished installing mine but haven't had the time to run it yet.

And the more I see that paint job, the more bad ass I think it is.

I haven't gotten to drive this car as much as I would like but so far its working great! I couldn't image driving any shaft driven car without one. Unless your running droop. There are a few ways to eliminate tourqe twist. Running the sway bar does this and more.

Time for an update. This car has seen alot of tuning. I am getting it really close to where I want to be. Still needs some BROOD power, but that will be soon. Put on a set of Dlux's new glue on wheel set ups. These things are bad a$$!!!
