| Wheels 5th demension sucker punch with a Dlux twist
First I have to thank Dlux and 5th demension for the parts. without them this build would not have been possible!!!!!!! So Thanks guys after watching Dlux build his sporty I was chomping at the bit to get one going myself. I was going to go with ax axles at first, but dlux just kept coming up with more and more options that make the AR60 a perfect choice for a sporty build. I always liked the looks of the sucker punch.and then dlux got a sucker punch in a box to borrow for nats. After checking one out in person I knew this was the chassis I wanted. After getting the axles together i bought some all thread and whipped up some mock up links. took those over to Dlux's and let him do his thing. went with 3/16" Ti lowers and 1/8" Ti uppers. As always they turned out great! |

Pretty sick dude! I dig the laid back shocks gives it a stretched out look. I'm real curious to see how the sway bar works out for you. I have been researching it trying to wrap my head around the concept. What I cant understand about the sway bar is how it is different than just adding spring rate. Looks good man! I am excited to see a build thread on this. I cant wait to lay the hurt on you too! It makes me want to try the sucker punch.... With the super simple and cheap mods done to the AR60's it would be hard to understand why you wouldnt go with them. 10.5" rear and 10.75" front is what we all want. Quote:
Let me complicate it for you. Imagine you add a single spring in the middle of the rear axle. For arguments sake, it will only add up and down spring rate, not side to side. A sway bar is the inverse of that. It does not add any up and down, only side to side. There just isnt much use for up and down spring rate on our cars. All it really does is add ride height and contribute to hop on climbs. If you have stiff springs on the rear, it can even push you over on a side hill. Sway bars eliminate all of the down sides. | |

looking pretty bad ass kyle!!! you made a great choice on the chassis. I am sure it will be competitor. with another real shifty in the picture, I might have to revive mine and start bringing it out. |

Thanks for finally showing off some of this build. Soooooo much more to come down the pipeline on the Sucker Punch. the build looks super clean and thanks for the kind words. Positive support like that really makes me want to keep pushing And on a side note, I really can't take all the credit for the continued success of The 5th dimension product. ALOT of people contributed their own time, passion and skill sets into making my visions come to fruition, and for that I am very grateful. Last edited by TSK; 02-19-2014 at 01:45 PM. |

Finally a minute to breathe. So lets start with the rear axle as it is very very simple. Dlux found these wheel hubs on the RC4WD site. They are hubs for the 1.9 steel wheels. After getting them you just have to tap the holes to 3mm. and bolt them up. that gave me a rear width of just over 10.5". looking to hit that magic number of 10.5. Dlux pulled them off my car and worked a little magic on the mill. he sunk the pin hole deeper and took a little off the overall thickness. and voila we hit it. Also had to take a couple threads out of the wheel nut because there was not enough threads to tightenit up. Probably the cheapest narrow mod you can do on an AR60. The front came out to 10.75". This was achieved using a set of V1 Dlux knuckes. with a zero offset hub. Dlux is now offering the same thing in a V2 knuckle. that he runs on his car. For the axle shafts.I am using an ofna outer with a stock inner. seems to be working good for now. |

Next on the list was to make some double shear side plates that will also act as a slider between the upper mounts. Its really nice on the motor side to keep you from hanging on rocks. so Dlux got to drawing....... After that I just couldnt stop him. before I new it he had some sick but simple sway bar mounts all made up. here is a shot with the body all painted up Now it just needs some VOODOOS |
