First crawler AX10 scorpion build

Well I just picked up a some what roller that's missing some stuff but it's my first build and first roller so I'll have fun lol.
The things I still need to get are:
-Tranny
-front axel
-servo
-wheels and tires
This is going to be a some what slow build and nothing crazy like most of the builds I see here lol.

Re: First crawler AX10 scorpion build

Well, if that's all the parts you have, then I would suggest buying an aftermarket chassis that comes with links.

There just aren't enough parts there to waste money on replacing the missing parts, just to end up with stock stuff.

Welcome to the forum.

I think they read it but what your not understanding perhaps is what is being said. Don't waste your time buying stock parts to build a rig you will ultimately want to upgrade. The front axle for example you will spend almost as much to build a stock front axle as you would to build a bullet proof xr front axle or its equivalent. The key part to this is the universals and knuckles weather you go xr bully or dlux it up to you and your funds.-
The mention of the chassis is only because the stock chassis is limited and not that great.-
You pretty much have a blank slate to do what you want to bro. Have fun and welcome to the forum!

I did read it, and I think a SUDU One, with the NCD transmission, and links will net you a much better product than buying the stock stuff.

Classic Cut Customs also offers a chassis with a custom transmission that will accomplish the same thing, without wasting money on stock parts.

I'm not sure, but they may come with servo/link plates; then you'll have your servo mount taken care of; and get better link geometry to boot. Check into it before you buy.

Buy an empty axle housing and fill it with Overdrive gears, beeftubes (mandatory on AX/SCX housings, not AR60's), and better shafts to save the money of upgrading later.

Stock steering will suck....period. It just sucks. Get something better since you don't have a front axle at all.

Use what you do have in the rear axle, with Underdrive gears, and run it stock for now. It should hold up for some time.

Guess that's what I would do if I was starting essentially from scratch.

I started with a stock AX10 and have very little left of it. Many Axial parts laying around here that are useless.

Well this is my first crawler and I'm sorry if I sounded like an ass hoe cuz I'm not lol. I guess it's all going to come down to how much I have to spend to get it running. Which what it comes down to is that want to get it running lol

I know the feeling dude of just wanting it to run. I also know the feeling of wasting money on out dated parts. I was once in your shoes.

Mate, we all need to start somewhere, good on you for having a crack.
The folks above are correct though, there are some budget'y type upgrades you can throw in the first time that will save you the break and replace heartache later on.

Do a little more reading before you drop any more hard-earned on parts that just aren't up to scratch.
The first thing you'll want to do i slower your COG (the high mounted battery was never a good idea) so look out for a front servo/battery plate to get your weight down and forward.
Its a little more building but the pay off is ten-fold.

Thats the plan to put the battery up front
And I really haven't spent any money on it some of the parts I had from a different project and the Frame I trade a paint ball gun I didn't really use any more.

Joker, I missed this post.

I have all the parts you have pictured.

Chassis, skid, links, shocks, etc.

Not much help to you unless you're missing some random stock part.

If so, let me know.

The transmission and the rear axle are still on the rig, and you can't have those! LOL

A slow build is still a build......keep it up.

Q should I get the splined or non beef tube.

Joker33132 03-25-2014 04:24 PM

Re: First crawler AX10 scorpion build

Ok I think I made up my mind. I'm going to Tobe ordering the longer beef tubes so I can use the xr10 stuff up front.
