Default Crawllife's 5D Sucker Punch

A few weeks back Travis offered me a chance to join the 5th dimension. I was super thrilled and jumped at the opportunity. So this is my shot at the Sucker Punch.

I've decided to stick with the OG side plates for now. If you glance at Wheels7's build, you will see some optional " slider plates " being used. They will be easy to switch to if I change my mind and I'll put some pics of them up in a bit. I've gone all blue on this build so blue aluminum hardware throughout.

Again, influenced by Wheels thread and another opportunity to work with Dlux I had these Ti lower clearance links bent. I'm working with Winner on getting me some carbon uppers for this one. And yes, couldn't resist the blue RPM rod ends and HR blue hollow balls.

Rear axle has:
Creation fab premium wide non splined tubes
Vp lockouts
Grip fab aluminum clamping locker
UD gear
Modded xr shafts

Axial aluminum chubs
Vp wraith knuckles
Grip fab aluminum clamping locker

There are tons of goodies going on this rig but 3 threads in 3 days and I'm going to red robbin. Ha! More coming very soon and thanks for looking!

I'll try to get cracking on that NCD transmission adapter plate. if everything goes according to plan, i'll try to have the crazywhitemachinist knock one out for you

Thanks Trav! Thank you for all of this. I'm having a blast so far. The trans hasn't shipped yet so no worries. I'm just going to plan on starting with a tough old school trans. She will look old but she's all modern inside

Lookin' good, David. I'm liking the blue accessories. Better get cracking...comp season is soon upon us. Oh, wait...you're in PA...well, the snow should be gone by April.

Hey, I know a guy that can paint you up a nice lid for that thing.

And the front plate. This carbon is too sweet. Tomi kills it with these parts. Mocked up with delrin links to try to find lengths. 3racing aluminum servo mounts. And it has to come back off because I forgot to put the shock razors on but you guys get the affect .

This is where I'll stop for today. I had 2 sets of links made for this and just for fun I put these links on. Just to see. I need to trim the front uppers and limit shocks but I think I'm getting closer to the look I'm going for. I like low rigs but we have some crazy breakover spots in our club. So at any rate, bind free, 12.5 and lookin BA;). Much more to come.

Ok, 3 am and now I have to quit. Here are a few shots of the stance as it will be driven at season start. Not quite as slammed in the front as some of my team mates but as I mentioned, our terrain varies quite a bit and a bit if extra break over is vital. I'm not sure I've touched on the shocks other than Will made the bodies. I used the Traxxas rebuild kit for their 1/16 shocks and machined pistons. To stop banging my head against the wall tonight, I limited the front 4mm and the rear 5mm and stuck with 30wt. I got all the NCD plates on with the exception of the electronics plate. I need to see how the drive shafts are gonna clear first. I'm thrilled with the final result tonight. Back to painting for a few days

Ok, I've learned that build threads are not easy on an IPhone. I'm far from a photographer but while I switch gears and work on the mini today, here are some better pics.

Some goodies came today. Mini BR, bec, proto body mounts that work with Gunnar parts and a carbon motor savor from Custom Fiber! Thanks Troy. These guards with the tab relief cut are where it's at. I'll be ordering more!

I also ( thanks to a heads up from winner ) picked up this short, dig length shaft for the front end of the SP. I know they are heavy but I'd like to start with MIP's. If the weight is out of control, I have 1 set of wb8's and a few sets of max shafts to work with

I always start with Maxx shafts cause they are cheap and plenty beefy. I had to switch to WB for the NCD Trans and am kinda bummed about it but it seems that people trust them enough once you jam a rod into it.

Rig looks solid and is coming along well. Keep up the good work.

Next step is taking this relic of a trans and making her tough. All the gears and outputs are rrp and as I mentioned, I'm starting with MIPS. When the narrow NCD trans is ready, I have WB8's to switch to. These at least give me confidence that this won't be the broken part on day one
