The fit of the 3D printed skid is spot on. The finish of the skid is what all 3D printed things look like that I have seen. It went together with no issues and the tolerances everywhere feel solid.
Bolting it up to the chassis makes this feel much stronger.
I am not seeing where this skid could possibly catastrophically fail.

However, that is why I have it.

Come on, I just got it in the mail. Scratches to come; between practice and our comp coming up at Rausch Creek it will be getting some abuse.

I got them out of the rice and all is good in the world. I now have a spare set all wired to the correct length as a back up as needed.

I'm glad all worked out. Makes me all the happier to be sticking with the sidewinders dude. That servo must have been sealed up well!!

That is pretty impressive using a 3D printed skid! I am assuming it is from ABS?

From the look and feel of it it would have to say yes. I'll double check with BC-Brian and turbofest. I can't wait until tomorrow to get back out on the rocks.

Yep it is abs, just talked to Turbofest about it. I'll be putting it through an intensive testing process starting tomorrow and we have a comp on Saturday at Rausch Creek ORP. That place will really test the slickness of the material and its strength.

Well I was only able to get two hours of practice in today. The 3D skid held up well, it felt slick on the rocks and appeared to handle the beating I threw at it. The rock at my normal practice spot is not really jagged like other places we drive at like Palmerton and Rausch Creek. Those places will show how much abuse this 3D printed material can withstand. I will be going up early on Friday to Rausch Creek for our clubs event there this weekend.
We always have a blast comp'n up there when the full size rigs are comp'n.

Well the EPARCCrawlers 2015 season started today. Had some tweaking done with shock oil and upper link positions. It was much more stable and side hilled much better than before. The VP of our club ran my link geo. through his calculator and it feels spot on. There was some great driving today and some rather rough courses which made it quite a challenge. Looking forward to this season and continuing to improve in the S class.

Got a nice package from Holmes Hobbies today. Team Puller 500 Crawl 13t, done up with the high fill wire, vented face plate and some snazzy anodizing. Well I installed the motor. Holy Moley this thing is a beast. I can't wait to get it out on the rocks tomorrow. I am glad I beefed up the tranz and drive shafts.

As you can see these are nice and light. I am looking forward to comparing the weight between the stock skid and the new lightweight 3D skid. It feels like it will slide as well as the Delrin skid.

More info to come, now to go and tear apart the rig I just put back together.

Well I was asked to do some testing on the new prototype 3D printed skid for the Prodigy. The first attempt at a minimalistic skid showed great promise. I am happy to have the new updated version it has a different printing pattern and some cross bracing to provide more structural support.

Got to spend some time today with the new motor today at St. Peters. I am really impressed with the low end control and the top end is bananas! The only downside I see right now is the hill hold but that is something I can workout through the TX, just have to do a bit of tweaking. I am hoping to get some more time in tomorrow and can work it out.
