Light weight gives the rig several advantages: less strain on the drivetrain, more wheel speed with the same amount of power, more agility on the rocks, the ability to "float" over holes, less breakage on tumbles (it happens), and maybe the most important of all is to be able to put the weight where you want it, which is down low.

You would think more weight low would make a rig more capable
To a point, yes. The transmission/motor mount are higher than you want the weight to be.

I may try it, I've always had heavy rigs.

I've been at this since heavy rigs were the rage and it took me a long time to make the switch. I was used to a heavy rig and light rigs just didn't "feel" right to me. I have to say, though, after building this rig and making an effort to make it lightweight I am now a believer. It really didn't take long to see what I'd been missing. I could've shaved a little bit more weight off here and there, but compared to what I used to run, it's a featherweight.

Looking like that rig is going to shed some good weight!

I use the LockedUpRC slipper eliminator. The top shaft comes shortened.

Good question, I just checked around real quick and came up empty. I'd give CREEPERBOB a shout, he makes Titanium shafts and has a very good reputation.

I was told that wheelie king shafts would work but I never figured out which one. Most of the links people posted were dead ends. Maybe you can find it,if so please post a part number.

Love Bob's shafts!

But for a good place to put info...

VP Currie axle shafts, XR width, would be a make-shift way to go.
I believe they need cut down and tang'd..
Options are good tho..

Both. I use front Mini T springs on the front and rear Mini T springs on the rear. Page 6, post #120 explains. This combination has worked well enough I have not had a reason to change.
