Got some super sweet 1/8" lightweight Ti upper links in the mail today from my teammate Cory (Purptr8r). I put some aluminum balls in the rod ends and stuck them on the scale for grins:

Next I put the stock Ti uppers on the scale:

Yep, the new lightweight Ti links weigh exactly half what the stock Ti links weigh. I'd say that's a significant improvement. A big thanks again to Purp for hooking me up!

Some shots of the new links installed on the rig:

Switched out the rear upper link mount. I like to rotate my rear axle back pretty far to get the drive shaft up and out of the rocks on breakovers. This mount had a couple more holes forward that allowed me to do that. Here's the one I'm running now:

And here's the new angle of the driveshaft, all nice and protected by the links:

I ran the VP Shock Razors on my old sporty and really liked them, so decided to put them on the Nightmare. They not only outboard the shocks and links a bit, but they also raised the rear of the chassis just enough to get it where I wanted it.

I'm pretty happy with how it sits now. Current stance and ride height:

Worked on electronics yesterday. Discovered my Mamba Micro Pro was no bueno, so had to stick an old Sidewinder in for now. I decased my receiver, saved about 3 grams by doing so:

My wiring is all temporary for now, so it is an absolute mess! Anyway, I was anxious to get the rig out on some rocks, so I zip-tied an old body on and took it for a spin. Burned through a couple of packs and so far I'm pretty impressed with how it performs for zero tuning and no knuckle weight.
I had my son go out to the garage with me to shoot some action pics, but the camera battery died before I got very far. This is the only shot I have for now:

Had a Hardline body on the shelf, and stuck it on to see how it would fit. Once I get electronics and wiring out of the way, it will sit nice and low, so I think this is the body I'll use.

I really like the low pro of the hardline. And I have 2 on the shelf.

Once I saw how well it fit, I ordered another. I should be able to get it about 1/2" or so lower when trimmed.

Have you received your Nightmare yet?

Now that the truck is up and running, it's time for some tuning... I'll start with the shocks. I've already turned down the bodies on a set of Big Bores, the next step was to order some Ti shafts. EverettY was out, but Cory (Purptr8r) sent me one of his sets so I can get started, and I'll replace them when mine come in. These are really nicely machined, and saved 4 grams of weight for the set.

Stock shafts:

EverettY Ti shafts:

I'm looking forward to it. My current project is a FB2 chassis running AR60 axles but I'm pretty new to this and not much of an engineer . So needless to say I'm at a standstill until I get some links made or find someone that has the right links for this setup. And I wanna hit the rocks so dang bad... Its killing me!!! Oh and did I mention I can't wait to see video of this thing in action?!?

Finally got the new shocks finished up (at least for now ). It's time to start dialing this baby in, so I took my best guess at set-up. Went to semi-droop in the front with 20 weight oil and soft Mini T fronts. Rear is normally sprung with 30 weight oil and soft Mini T rears. I may decide to go a little stiffer in the rear, but with this rig being significantly lighter than my previous sporty, I wanted to try these first.
This set of shocks is about 10 grams lighter than the other set.
