If any of my favorite parts are unavailable anywhere in the whole wide world, I'll know where to look.
PURPMART has a wide variety of hard to find items for all your crawling needs ;)

Stuck it on the scale this morning to see what my RTR weight is. I know all the cool kids are running closer to 3 pounds these days, but I'm kinda old school and have always liked the feel of a heavier rig. My goal with this build was to be under 4 and I made it (albeit barely). There are some places where I could easily drop a bit more, but for now I'm happy.

Okay, so it's been a while since my last update... I've been fine-tuning and adjusting things on the Nightmare S and have to say I am still loving it! It handles very nicely and predictably, and although I still have a few minor things like changing out the drive shafts, settling on tires/wheels, etc., I am basically ready for the summer comp season to start next month. Since the weather has been so crappy around here lately, it gave me a chance to paint a new body. I originally had decided to go with the Axial Hardline body, but after trying it and comparing it to the JP Comp body from RC4WD, I decided to go with the JP body again. It doesn't sit quite as low as the Axial body, but it is much easier (for me) to get the rig back on all fours after rolling over with the JP body. I did my usual tiger-stripe theme, but gave it a little updating this time. Anyway, enough talk, now onto the pics:

Sorry, we've had snow on the ground for a while now, so no proper pics on the rocks, just posers on white background...

I realize this is a total newbie question, but how do you make those sweet bends in the lexan?

Is it done before you paint using a heat gun, some flat plates and clamps, etc?

I've always wanted to do that to both my sportsman and my mini, but never had a body I could mess up to experiment on.

It's really easy, I just decide where I want to make the bends and use a pair of hand seamers to make them. I have also used a couple of pieces of aluminum angle in one of my vices when the bend is longer than the seamers will do. Flat plates and clamps would work as well, no heat needed. And yes, I try to make my bends before painting so I don't scratch the paint later by putting the body in a vice or whatever.

Since Saturday is our first comp of the new season, I FINALLY got around to putting my SDI drive shafts on. Very impressed with the amount of extra clearance gained with these. If they hold up to my driving I will have found my new 'go-to' drive shafts.

Hey Troy, it sure beats running down the street in your underwear with an angry gorilla chasing you!

My SSS-RS did so well for me I was almost afraid to tear it down and build this one! But I knew Don wouldn't be releasing a new chassis that was anything short of fantastic.

Had our local club's season opener yesterday so this rig finally got to do battle. It was amazingly smooth to drive, did everything I asked of it, and took it's first win.
VERY happy with the rig, and looking forward to a great season with it. Don really outdid himself with this chassis design.
