| Papa's BWD Nightmare S
Had a nice little care package waiting for me when I got home today... In case you missed it, here is the link announcing BW's newest 2.2 Shafty chassis, the Nightmare S. This little gem is beautiful, and shows Don's usual top-notch quality and design. This is going to be a fun build! Much more to come soon! Last edited by papabash; 09-15-2017 at 10:20 PM. |

Yeah! What exactly is going on with that axle plate?? Can you mount the servo way over on one side and run a larger battery??

| Re: Papa's BWD Nightmare S It's a low COG design, that mounts over the axle case's mounting posts. The center section is slightly raised and the battery mounts on one side with the servo on the other. The lower part of the "T" is an electronics mounting plate. I took several pictures just now, and they are uploading to Photobucket as I type. I have to go to work now, but will get them posted up when I get home tonight. |

If you're just bent on running a larger battery, it can be done. A larger lipo will fit if you're willing to place it at an angle, like on an XR10 axle. This picture shows a 1,000mah battery sitting on the plate to show what I mean: Hope this helps... Last edited by papabash; 09-16-2017 at 08:01 AM.

Very cool design, I like that it ties in to the 2 bolts over at each end, kinda might stiffen or reinforce the whole axle! It looks to be the right length for regular scx axles, I wonder how big a pack I can get in there with widened axles? I'd love to fit my 2200s on an axle for long trails...

More pics of the battery/servo plate, here's the top: And the bottom: As you can see in the pictures, the main parts of the plate are G10 fiberglass, with the electronics plate being made from Delrin that has been pocket-milled to reduce weight. Here's a front view showing the middle section that screws to the axle mounting posts, allowing the remainder of the plate to sit nice and low: Last edited by papabash; 09-15-2017 at 10:27 PM. |

These are the rear link mounts that I received with the chassis: I'm not sure how the marketed version will come, but it's nice to have a couple of options to try out. My plan is to start with this one: Very minimalist and light-weight, but plenty strong being made of G10. Last edited by papabash; 09-15-2017 at 10:29 PM. |

Just some random shots of the chassis from different angles. The front of the chassis is on the left: Last edited by papabash; 09-15-2017 at 10:33 PM. |

I'm enjoying the fastback chassis I have, but I'm thinking about a whole new chassis, perhaps... Just to add further confusion, I'd like to put a bug body on it, so it won't look so silly if I go scaling or trailing with others. I'm trying to have one chassis where I can throw on the voodoos and comp, then put some swampers, a body, and a large battery and go on a hike. I'm tired of buying parts for 2 (or more) cars, lol...

Got a tiny bit done before heading off to work this morning; transmission assembled with all Robinson innards, aluminum spacers, and one of Don's purty motor plates. Ordered a new Holmes Team Puller 500 this morning, can't wait to bolt it into this! Last edited by papabash; 09-15-2017 at 10:36 PM. |
