Default A nightmare on purp street ... Bwd shafty

So you all know the PURP but I've never been much of a build thread kinda guy .. I just build stuff and drive it ... But I've been a long time fan of BILLET WORKS DESIGNS. Products and Don has been kinda low key for a little while and when I saw he was releasing a new chassis I messaged him and asked when the release date was ... We beat around the bush with small talk and this bundle of joy showed up on my door step...........I wasn't the least bit surprised at how sexy it was ... Extremely light even with the stainless hardware ... He gives you extra pieces in case you were to break something and multiple mounting brackets/4link depending on what/how you want your set up ...... What I was surprised to find .... There was no purple on this thing whatsoever !!!! So within a half hour or so I fixed the one issue I had with it out of the box

I went ahead and made some links according to the specs Don had given me .... 1/8 ti uppers and 3/16 ti lowers ... I'm in the process of trying some high clearance rear links but here's pics for the time being ... Traxxas ends and hot racing aluminum hollow balls

Then I went ahead and built some shocks .. I had some new-ish scx shocks in my bin along with titanium shock shafts from E.Y Designs ... Axial 7mm pistons .. Of course silver mrc springs and mini t springs ... And shock collars from my boy Brian at Notch 8 Designz...... I used 60wt in the rear and 30 wt in the front ..... I will tell you that all 4 shafts from E.Y with the pistons and e clips attached weigh less than 2 stock shafts by themselves !!! Impressive good thing I bought 3 sets

Front axle started with a new case I had pre done last night to accept my RCBROS burly tubes ... I had the 36/14 gear already in stock at PURPMART... Fresh FAST EDDIE bearings ... VP knucks and chubs that BC-Brian owner of LATTICE INNOVATIONS anodize purple for me ... DLUX no slop bushings .. Modded xr10 universals GRIP FAB locker ... And of course purple aluminum hardware from FASTENER EXPRESS..... I would like to make note that the tricked out front link plate Don is building these chassis with is awesome .... Extreme low cog with holes the posts slide through to get the plate lower on the axle....... I didn't really notice until I started bolting it together !! ... I think that's it for today I have a few other projects I have to spend some time on ... But it's a good start for one afternoon ..... Can't wait to test it out

Ahh ok nice

So why'd you cut the axle cases? No need to do that with the Burly tubes... also the collars for the Burly tubes are on backwards... The purple anodized VP parts look so sick

Forget the axles bro.. Take them shocks back apart and build them right!

Maybe EY made the ti shafts a little bigger in diameter to save on shock oil?
If not.. A 3rd o-ring and some AE slime will keep them sealed up perfectly! ;)

Other then that.. Everything Don did, looks Awesome!

Love you long time!

I cut the tubes because I had originally had creation fab tubes which you have to trim .. I didn't have the rcbros tubes with me last night so I was going from memory setting these cases up ... And I already spun the collars around but I had thrown them on for the picture purposes lol ... Don't worry

The purple vp parts were for my super but I really wanted this to look as good as I know it will drive so I dipped into my parts stash and I'll have to send others out to Brian to get done to replace these haha

There is 3 o rings in each one .... Found that helpful bit of info on your thread bitch ... And I use the green team associated slime .... Unless you have better slime to recommend

Slower compression and rebound so it doesn't bounce you over plus it helps with any torque twist

Put another screw to secure the burly tubes one isn,t enough if you start muscling your way around the rocks
