I have the Vanquish lockers and after reading several complaints just like yours, I decided to run them without the setscrews. They have performed flawlessly ever since...

My favorite so far are the orange hot racing ones in my thread ... 14 dollars they weigh NOTHING ... Great for the rear in the front I'd use a hr spool but I had a locked up locker in stock at PURPMART so I figured I'd use it

I run the HR spools in my scalers and really like them.

It seems like my axle shafts are not perfect and such is causing a bind that then takes it toll on the motor and ESC when the truck is in a bind.

On a good note I have put about 2 dozen packs through the truck. I deff have a few tuning things to do this weekend.
Personally.. I hate "lockers" just for this same reason.

I have spools in most all my rigs.. Tho my scx VP'd out stock housings came with VP lockers, in a trade, so I use them.
But I turned them into spools. I use red loctite on the grub screw's, after I find center, and let them setup.
I only tighten them to the axle shafts are Snug in the locker. That way, I don't have to drill holes in my axle housing to mess with them or let a area for debris to get in.

I have found, a little movement, in and out, is needed to achieve max steering, smoothly. IMO

Once they are setup and turned into spools, I haven't had any issue..

I'm starting to agree on all points.
I shim everything - the front to the point I have maybe 1/16 play on either end. That seems to be plenty wiggle room.
But with the rear, I had the lockers so figured I'd use them. And now I have another project where I have to use a locker to keep the axle shafts in.

Good lessons - Thanks for the time guys!

Tubes for what? I have RCbro tubes in the front. And home made tubes in the rear.

Not familar with that locker but I have found that over tightening a screw locker can cause warpage/untrueness/eggshape, dont wrench em down to tight, they don't need to be, and use a dab of threadlock if you'r worried about em comin loose, this will maintain the integrity of the round shape where the axles are inserted.

Swapped the rear locker back to stock - Going out at 6am. Shall see if the binding fixes my electric issues.
Hoping to get some video also - last set of shots looked like my 4year old took them.

Not a full rebuild but there is enough small things that need attention to warrant a good clean up.

LOL, good point. I just know my work area is usually way more cluttered than that.
