| hulksta Smash plate mod .
Hi guys I am not sure if anyone has thought of this. I am useing Hulksta Engineering Smash plate for my ax10 front axle. I recently saw my friend Stan ripp his front plate right off his truck on a good drop. Even with gromet screws placed in the axle.granted hebfell 5' feet onto jagged rocks . So i was thinking why not use a end link where the battery plate goes and on the servo side.this way there is something more holding it to the axle at a different point in the rear of the plate. I managed to find some longer screws ..1st pic is what end links and spacers I used. I moved the screw over so the end link would sit inside of the tangs for the axle.this way it does not interfere with the strap for the battery.I moved the links out and put the shocks I am currently useing to the outside for more stability on side hills. the truck has never felt more solid. I ran the truck last night and it worked out great.I even fell off the same spot and it took the fall like a champ. Thank you for your interest on this. I can't say enough good things about the smash plate.it really is a awesome affordable upgrade . a must have for any axial shafty class truck. |

I have been giving some thought to the rear smash plate and how i could mount it the same way as I did the front plate. I was going to put a end link ball as a spacer to get more in the milddle of the plate ,but I decided to go with the one end link instead of two. I thought it might be to much of a snag point so close to the diff. I used the same offset end link as I did with the one from the left front plate. When I can get over to the hobby shop I will be able to get some longer screws so I can finish it up. The pic is how it will be mounted with a small spacer so there is a little more carbon fiber to be able to drill a hole For the end link. This definitely helps secure the smash plate to your axle.

I finished up the rear smash plate. I went with the one end link on either side of the axle tangs for the links and shocks.putting the shocks to the outside has greatly increased the side hill abilities. .

I also got my RC Bros springs in. I used the spring retainers from a mini revo on the ends. they are a little snug but seem to be working. If they come off I will use them in reverse since they lock right inside of the normal spring retainer cup. |
