Default A srebuild in progress of a Elnino III named Pinky... yes Pinky

Hi Everyone

Most all of you don't know me, never heard of me...I hold no titles and am not a sponsored driver by any means.
Yet for about 2 years I have watched/ read this this section of RCC intently and it has become my favorite class.
Late last season I bought a comp rig from AXtn? and he was very cool to deal with and worked with me to get me this rig all the way to the west coast in BC Canada. I have been running with the local club for a year or so prior and always wanted to try the crawler side cause the chess game looked like a true addiction haha and it is!
since then the local guys Chevotafun, Mammoth, Solitaire have been a great resource in helping my driving skill... they have and continue to keep my learning curve going as I comp with them.
I don't have the newest chassis and I see there are tons out there that look absolutely wicked and one day will upgrade, but for now this Elnino IIi chassis has worked very well for me (although a little biased as its the only one I have really ran) so as we are in the comp season and I have spent most of the winter just practicing the rig I have been listening to the guys changing little things as I go at a time and not giving into to many urges to buy buy buy haha. Some of the parts I am still unsure of the brand sorry.
Currently Pinky has:
Elnino III chassis
Front axle - SCX10 w/ xr mod
- Unkown derlin beef tubes
- xr universal axles
- Unkown (but heavy) Locker
- Stock plastic chubs
- Vanquish knucles (one pink)
- RC Bros knucle weights
Rear Axle - SCX10 w/ xr mod
- Unkown aluminum beef tube
- Aluminum rear axles
- stock plastic wraith lockouts
- hot racing locker

Wheels - Dlux "D" hole
Tires - Narrowed Voodoos
C.I foams med rear soft front
Titanium links
Gearbox - SCX10 stock
Driveshafts - WB's Core filled
Shockes - Axial Aluminum
Springs - Unkown

Electronics
Castle Mini
Castle bec
Hitec 7954
Futaba 4pls
Holmes motor

Mental note guys.... when you put thread lock on the screw and are looking for your driver..DON'T hold the screw n your mouth...yuck

Ok So the old locker weighs 20G... the Holmes locker is super nice and only 10G

Ok Dumbass me just realized the incorrect spelling in the title... yeah ....well lets move one.

the front axle I have a really locker, the thing is a brute but holds really well, if anyone know hte name of it please let me know. My goal is to slowly lighten things and adjust as I go and learn. I will be ordering a graphite motor mount plate from Davetech but ultimately would like to find a narrow gearbox that centers the motor more but at this moment it doesn't look like there is much out there.

tomorrow night its the shocks, going to try and get the leaking out of them or atleast slow them down haha.

Some before and after pics of the front axle weights

Hmmm, can't say I noticed the pink knuckle on that thing last time out. How did that happen?

No need to buy, buy, buy. That truck came pretty well loaded when you bought it. And it works well.

You sure the rear axle shafts are alum? Maybe Titanium as in Creeper Bob's?

Haha it always had a pink knuckle (see first pic), I am taking your advice on that Bob and not buying just for buying yet doing things I think that couldn't hurt it. not breaking the bank as a moa is still in the plans.

I wondered that to about the rear axle ...you could be very right

Awesome too see a El Nino build!

2 suggestions..
1. Don't worry about getting a "fancy" new chassis. You have one sexy chassis, that will do work, just like the new ones out!

2. Buy, buy, buy!!! That chassis deserves it All! Lol.. Ok, not really...

I switched from a El Nino to a boxer. The biggest difference was the tranny.

The Neener can do some sweet things, out on the rocks!
The only real thing I would suggest.. More knuckle weight.

Now I'm not a big fan of Alot of knucks weight, but you don't have enough, IMO..
On top of that, you just dropped 40g off the front.
You should now add, Atleast 20g to each knuckle.

It's hard to take weight off the front, without taking atleast the same amount off the rear.

For the shocks.. Easy fix..
Triple o-rings and green slime.

Lots of info in my build thread, of the Neener, pics and video.

Lots of info in my build thread, of the Neener, pics and video.
Thanks for the input! Originally that 40g locker was in the rear and worked good but as my driving improved I found the draw back (although it did hell keep the rear planted). So I switched them and it worked not bad but didn't feel that balanced, my thinking was to not have such a drastic weight difference in the axles and us the knuckle weights as my weight tuning. I haven't changed the weight on the knuckles since I got it but it makes sense to what your saying.
as for the chassis I am quite happy with it and really considerering this is only my first full season (last season didn't place haha) I have no plans on changing it yet especially in the season but little changes yes.

Cool I will be checking out your threads tonight after work (sitting at work now just not workIng shhh).

I'll check tonight if I have any extra but I don't think I do so yeah that would be great until I can order some in, maybe a full ring or half ring per side... So much for lightening the thing up Lol. Curious how you boys get your rigs to that 3lb mark.

Thanks Mike, yeah I was bored (no kid till Friday) so I thought why not. I like this side of crawling for the tuning and driving.
