Default Detour's SuDu 1FL

After taking a break cause of life, I'm back on the board with a new build. To be honest I never really left I just became a creeper! This build is going to be different for me cause there won't be a lot of fab work, if any at all! But this should still be an interesting build with all the goodies a nice little crawler deserves. It also will be extremely interesting for me because this will be the first crawler I've built that will be built they way it was designed, without me hacking parts up or fabing my own..... so I can't wait to see how it crawls!

Here's the parts list and Pics will come as things show up and assembly is started.

Sudu 1FL chassis with built in tranny. Its this chassis that has me coming back to crawling!

Front axle
Scx housings
Rcbros brass Burly Tubes
Xr universals
VP Incision Knuckles
VP 8° chubs
HD overdrive gear
Rcbros knuckle weight holders
Rcbro half weights .25 and .125
Krazedbuilder knuckle weight holder
Rcbros front 4link mount and plate
Rcbros steering arms
Fast Eddy bearings

Rear axle
Scx housings
Rcbros aluminum Burly Tubes to possibly be installed???
Rcbros rear 4link mount
Axial straight shafts
Stock Axial lockouts
HD underdrive gears
Fast Eddy bearings

Drive line parts
Holmes Hobbies 400 puller 13t XX filled
SDI shafts
R2 gears
R2 extended output shaft and gear

Electronics
Smashed BR mini/castle bec
Airtronics Rx

Tires
EY designs Ultra narrowed Voodoo's 1/2 sliver (outside) 1/2 gold(inside)

Parts to be ordered soon!
Servo: Futaba BLS
Links: Dlux Ti links
Wheels: well that's up in the air, but I'm leaning towards Y-Town P1's
Shocks: I'm having a hard time deciding on this as well Scx shocks or Big Bores! Got to say I love me some Big Bores!
Optional desTroy link plate to give me another steering option!

Well that's my plan! If anyone has input or suggestions please comment.

just in case people are interested building this crawler with parts being bought and nothing fabricated by me seems to be more expensive. 1639.16 is what I'm into it so far -37.00 for buying the wrong gears for the tranny puts it at 1602.16 and I still haven't got the shocks, servo horn, upper link materials, batteries, deans plugs, rod ends, shock oils, 32p pinions, tungsten slugs for the knuckle weights or a body and paint.

Keep in mind I didn't have to have a $219.99 futaba bls172sv servo, but I kinda did once you have one everything else seems slow and weak! I could have saved on wheels as well but the P1's look so sexy.

Another thing is all these parts are brand new so I could have saved some buying some used stuff as well.

Moral to this story is when you see a certified comp crawler for $800.00 in the classifieds know there is some money invested!

Thank you for putting in the cost. I've got an older swx style rig. I've been looking into updating or basically build a new one and seeing the cost helps. Gotta pick up a few more side jobs.

I got some time too assemble the transmission tonight which took me about an hour to figure out but after staring at it BAM! It hit me and it went together flawlessly. So naturally I had find some hardware to mount the 400 XX puller to see how it would fit and well it think the two are a match made in heaven. Only drive time will tell the ultimate truth tho.

Here's a picture of what I got done. Front axle is only assembled for to check out how all the parts fit cause I'm still lacking my spools and some various parts I forgot I even needed, like wheel hex's or more than likely shift hubs. Also I'll need drive pins so I'll be placing those orders tomorrow!

So after ordering the tungsten slugs for the super slick 8° weight holders I figured out that these jewel's will hold 2lbs of weight a side! I ordered the 4oz 3/8 diameter slugs.

Thank you Douwe. My lady put that together for me and is laminating it for a build mat and background. I thought it was pretty cool idea.

So I got some 3.2 mm CF rod to make uppers out of and some 2500lbs epoxy to hold them in the rod ends.

Any suggestions on what I should use to pin them as well?

The background is the best I've ever seen.

The rig seems to be a bit un-you.....but I don't know you that well....

Very nice progress. Can't wait to drive this rig.
