Default 35 or 45T motor?

Currently building up a sporty chassis with my ax axles.

Will be using the standard transmission and gearing - though i have a higher gearset for motor and ring on offer. The axles will have an overdrive in the front and standard rear gearing.

Will be running 3s in the end.

Just wondering what folk are finding works best with this sort of set up regarding motor turns?

Previously had a 55t in my scorpion and that was dead slow....

TIA

I use a 13t Holmes Hobbies puller motor. But the 13t 5 slot Holmes motor that is 35.00 aprx. Is just fine. The 45 and the 35 will be slow.

I run a Brood 30t Conflux in mine, I see no need for anymore power than that and it aint slow! Great low end control and plenty of speed when needed.

The basic option is to run a 35t motor from whatever manufacturer you like (Tekin now has a 30t I think). The you can upgrade from there and look at Brood or Holmes Hobbies. Both will give you an upgrade from the standard lhs fair your used to. Most people these days are running a 3 slot 30t or a 5 slot 13t motor form one of these 2 companies . Personal preference at that point.
I currently run a Brood Conflux 30t and is one sweet little unit. Awesome start up and torque with crazy wheel speed. Just my 2 cents and ask 10 other guys and you'll get 10 other answers!

Hehe.. Thanks chaps

The biggest issue is being in the UK so lots of the fancy flavours aren't available without considerable shipping ,handling and import duty.. Which frankly is sh%t.... A shame as the Holmes stuff looks ace..

For me the easiest option is the tekin FXR combo deals. Else i can get the cc sidewinder and add a motor.

Perhaps the new Tekin 30T motor would be a good compromise then?. Else i'll go with the 35 maybe and gear appropriately.

Unless anyone can list any better stuff to use in the UK?

For what it's worth...
One of the guys in our club as the Tekin FX 35t combo in his SCX.
pushed it through Hell and back, caught it on fire (and his beard), and it's still 'ticking.
He was running 1.9 TSL XL's stretched over weighted 2.2's.
Converted the truck to a Class 1, and he wanted more wheel speed, so we dropped in a 20t.
Same ESC.
He's going to replace it with a AE-5 only because he want's to run a 3S without an external BEC.
The FX-R may not need the external BEC, I'm not sure...
