Default Ax10 shocks - can I get a shorter body?

Trying to use my ax shocks on a sporty and need a shorter body - they measure 12mm external diameter and are currently 125mm fully extended. Need to get to around 90mm - don't mind cutting the pushrods and retapping where necessary to fine tune...

Have heard mentions of the scx10 body being shorter but thought they were 10mm external..

Thanks

Ax shocks are not only longer but bigger around as well.

You can cut some off the top of the shock body and the same amount off the shaft, of you want..
I would suggest finding a set of scx shocks..
Rcbros shock cups (for mini springs) And some Rcbros mini springs..

You'll be good to go, no fuss, no mess..

then if you want.. A extra scx o-ring and some green slime..

I thought they were a different diameter :-(. And there's no amount of sensible shortening that will bring them near the correct length.

I do have some LCC shocks I've robbed of my LCC which with a bit of fiddling and a little cut down would be pretty good, but of course I'd only need to buy another set in the end....

So what is it about the scx shocks that has made them shine? I presume folk are using the plastic bodies rather than the Ali for weight saving?

And what is the advantage of using the shorter losi mini Spring on the shock?

Thanks.

I used scx10 shocks on my bmachinerc Evo. I used creation fab shock retainers and rcbros spring cups. I put machined shock pistons in the as well as extra o ring and don't forget the green slime! (thanks for the heads up troy)

Maybe a stupid question, but what is that "green slime"?

It's used to fix holes in bike tires ** i don't know why they use it for shocks though

It's a product made by associated to use when building there high end shocks. It helps stop the axle shocks from being a drive threw.

We do carry a Delrin made SCX10 style shock body referred to as the Egressor shock body.

These can be shortened to any length the user requires. They also feature traxxas style big bore seals ensuring no leaks unlike the factory axial shocks. we have all the goodies in stock to make full kits.

IMO they are the smoothest, smaller shock body on the market.

Thanks for the info. Did see some of the units, will have another look.

Perhaps you could explain what the advantage is of running the shorter losi type springs? I presume one needs a collet / spacer on the shock body to space them?

Also, wanted to say a big thanks for a parcel I received from you in the uk yesterday ( Seb @ SG services). 7 days and got away with import & taxes 👍. Great!.
