| Re: Adding a sporty to the heard
Since I had to cannibalize the front end of my pro rig to get this running for the New England Monster Showdown, I decided it was time for the sporty to have its own front end. I am going with the Dlux brass knuckles. Got them in the mail a few days ago and these are killer! Can't wait to test them out. Also being replaced is the front plate with a desTROY plate. Couldn't get to it today though. |

Took a few hours this afternoon to try to finish up the front end on the sporty. Added the desTROY front plate back on and got my shocks on. Finished up with some steering arms. Only thing left to do is clean up the servo wire. |

You do see a bit of Troy's handy work on the front end. ;). I'm really liking he set up of this front place with the way the servo sits. I finished up the servo working today with my new favorite tool...the wire crimper. No more cutting servo wires and having to solder them back when I want them shorter. A 20 minute job just became 2 minutes. |

I might have to build another sporty... instead of finishing the scale trucks.

Trying my hand at painting the body myself. Put some graphics on using mod podge and the rest will be paint. We will see how well I do. First coat of blue is down. |

Finished up the paint this morning. I am happy with it for my first time. Definitely learned some lessons about what to do and what not to do. A few spots I'm not thrilled with but acceptable for first time. Last edited by cjsmith4; 06-30-2016 at 10:21 AM. |

I've come back to continue updating this thread. Took this rig to NENC last summer and took 7th in sporty. My Pro wouldn't run so I ran this in the pro class and finished 19th (top half). I'll take that for running sporty in a pro class. I went up to winner123's today to pick up my Pro rig and practice a bit. I couldn't leave the sporty at home. |

| Re: Adding a sporty to the heard
I've been getting a lot of practice with this rig over the summer, and with that comes the finding of weak spots. One of the weak spots was the tie rod. It was aluminum all thread with an aluminum sleeve. I noticed in a bind that this would just bend and not hold firm so I upgraded this to a titanium rod. Second weak spot was mounting the trans to the skid. Three of the holes in the bottom of the trans were stripped to the point that the screws fell out while I was on the rocks. Found some brass anchors, drilled the holes a little bigger and the trans is all better. She is back up and ready for the rocks. Time for some more practice. |

Νice rig!! Ι had ordered some of these brass inserts too, to try and fix some stripped holes. Do you just wedge them in or you used some kind of glue also?

I drilled the holes out to 4mm (I actually used a 5/32" drill bit) and I did use a little super glue but you don't have to. When you put the screw into these, they expand and that will drive the coarse sides into the plastic and hold itself in there. | |
