Default The rental rebuild, Aka side piece.

I never meant to build this rig. It should have never existed but as my sportsman rig got more & more serious I had leftover parts stacking up and here we are.

I originally built it as a test bed since my main rig had ar60's and I'd been asked to test some stuff for scx type axles I had to build it so I didn't have to swap that rig around all the time. Yea I know, first world problems.

I won't bore anyone with the pics of the axles being built but they have creation fab brass xr tubes up front and creation fab aluminum xr tubes out back. Front HD gearing, rear UD both on holmes spools. Rear has VP shafts, front has clearanced axial xr universals, stock c hubs and VP knuckles with their brass wraith weights. Shift hubs are used front & back.

This rig has had a few different chassis, the latest was an unstuck V1 from Krazedbuilds.com but the main rig having a V2 unstuck made me want to switch to the newer version so here we go!

First i blew the rig a part, I'm reusing most of it since the chassis are compatible with each other with just slight differences in link geometry. I'm reusing the dlux and VP links and the dravtech shocks I'd just bought last week and slapped on while waiting for the new chassis to show up.

The rear axle has a dlux sporty truss and one of Douwe Zeinstra's (shapeways) printed link risers.

The front has a dlux sporty truss and another one of Douwe's link risers but I removed it for the rebuild.

I picked up a dlux hamberger trans with low ratio SAF gears and used a Brood apocalypse 35 turn motor with a 10 tooth pinion.

The new chassis is nice! The carbon fiber has a matte look to it and is slightly thicker than the V2 that is on my main rig.

I'm using a holmes brxl so heres a nice tip if using it with a V2 chassis. If you pop the upper half of the case off it fits perfectly in the front of the chassis like it was made for it.

My trusted old promodler V4 made its way into this rig too. Of course fed by a castle bec.

Here is the new body too so i can get my scale nerd on.

I picked up a set of cut & shut 1.9 pitbulls and stabbed them on CI 1" 6 bolt wheels with CI dual stage foam.

I figured out I could flip dlux loaded dice around and egg the upper mounting holes and they'd bolt onto the VP weights. This was a pretty capable and sturdy rig as a straight up sportsman so we'll see if i can keep that trend going as it gets a bit more scale looking without a single applicable scale point to be found.

The paint is drying on the new body currently but I'll have it all together this evening.

Body is on but final trim will have to wait for tomorrow. My base model dremel only has one speed and that's hypersonic and noisy as fawk especially doing body trimming.

Glad somebody likes the axles. Before the front link/servo truss was developed I absolutely hated these axles. Now im just slightly annoyed.

It's pretty much all I use. The only time I use something else is to get my by until an order of CI foams comes in. I love the 6 bolt wheels for the rear too. Nice & light, no need to get crazy.

I'll have a rather big update for this thread soon, stay tuned for the balls to drop in sportsman.

Correct. I probably should have quoted him as to why I said modified AR44s.

My apologies...
I'd bet Dlux is working on a sporty rear axle....

Went out playing today, I made Mr Dlux drive El Pinko so he could get in touch with his feminine side.

Hah! Didn't even think about it, the temps were in the mid 20's so cycling between driving and warming up my hands was the main priority.
