I wont be able to get on the net tomorrow so I wanted to do an update tonight to keep this thing rolling. This idea all started when I was trolling the Toyzuki forum. I saw that they are all running panhard 3 links with CMS. I cant stand when people put stuff on their cars to make them less capable so I started talking smack not only about the CMS but also about the 3 link. I told them that the 3 link is bad because it only torques one side of the chassis and thats not good. Then, the thought came to me.... what if it does only torque one side of the chassis but what if that side is the side that has torque twist! I actually shared the idea with a few of them but I think they just looked at me cross eyed like I was crazy. It was a that point that I knew I had to make this car. So, this car will have 3 link front and rear with panhard. The torque twist is setup so that the front driver lifts and the rear passenger drops. The front link is on the driver side, which will pull that chassis back down from the torque of the "axle wrap". The rear link is on the passenger side, which will lift that chassis back up from the torque of the "axle wrap". Its a perfect situation that will work perfectly with each other, canceling each other out. Virtually no torque twist at all! This will make the Achilles heel of a shaft driven rig, the ultimate advantage of a shaft driven rig. After putting this thru my head a million times and dealing with it, I dont see how anybody with a shaft driven rig could not run this setup. Its too big of an advantage to not do. Shoot, maybe the scalers will even get extra points for running a 3 link? I dont know how that silly hobby works. Anyway, here are some pics of the chassis. |

I can only imagine the looks you got haha. From what I understand about 3 links and panhards, the panhard mounts control roll center. Are you committing to one roll center or are you planning some adjustment into the axles and chassis? |

As far as the panhard, my #1 priority is to have it have as little side to side movement from flex as possible. Wherever my roll center ends up from that is where it will be as the roll center is not the priority.

As long as your panhard chassis mount is atleast level or even slightly lower than your panhard axle mount while the rig sits at ride height (just like a WE Rock buggy) then you won't even notice it or fight any axle shift side to side...and the axle will travel vertically up and down rather than the annoying side shift

Wow, man - this is lookin' fantastic. Sweet trusses, indeed! If it's G10, how hard is that stuff on your tools? Is it a lot easier to work than Carbon fiber? |

I am stoked you posted the thread on RCC. You should stop all the Facebook posts now and finish it up on here only. Keep the innovations secret so I move up in the line to get one! Will you have it at the AZ shootout? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Erik, I always thought you would be the second to last guy to start building scale trucks. I don't know if I am disappointed or elated. Way to go outside of the box. I like it |

Thats for sure! I'll never forget when I went to a comp he put on in St George Utah about 8-9 yrs ago and i took my berg and a scaler. And he asked me a question about my scaler. And I asked him why he doesn't "scale" ...and he told me he would rather paint his nails!!

Seems like all the extra weight is surely going to put your theory to the test. The parts you are making are going to look great on my C3 if made available to the public. Surprised that you did not move the panhard mount on the axle all the way out to the wheel. The longer it is, the less it deflects through the cycle. Very good looking parts.
