With cog being so important, hasn't Axial goofed on their battery placement? I mean, it's nearly worse than that of a wheely king. I want one of these rigs as bad as everyone else but that is a sticky point for me.

Look at the thread RCP posted, they put the pack on the front upper links. Who builds it or leaves it like they show anyways. This has been discussed multiple times, read through the threads you will see.

In fact, Axial has even stated that is a "noob" battery location - it's just there to make it easy. The directions apparently list numerous easy alternative locations, and some assistance/skill level required to make them work. All you have to do is a little home work.
