Default What Is the Point for a HD motor plate on Axial trany?

So is this more of a bling bling aesthetic upgrade or is it worth the money?

Lots of companies have been producing them ever since the AX10/SCX10 trannies were released a while back....the only reason I would use one is if I was running a hot brushless or hot brushed motor to do FOFF style events where there is much more heat generated than crawling course to course with breaks in between.

I read around that they are lighter, stronger, and dissipate heat better especially due to the fins compared to the stock aluminum versions.

Is this really a worthwhile upgrade or more of a show piece? I'm considering putting one in my Wraith that runs a BRXL on 3s w/ccbec for a 7950TH set at 7.4V. Reason being the temp is about 10 degrees more than I'm comfortable with after a 20-25 min run including hard acceleration, breaking and speed blasting in dirt.

For around $35-$40 is there a much better upgrade to get maybe like sways where the upgrade is immediately noticeable?

Also anyone actually had a hard enough hit to bend the stock one???

You've told us everything about the electrics except which motor you are running

Not to sure where you are getting $35-40 from but here is the best HD motor plate on the market. its $24

Yes they are worth the money especially when running high powered motors. Not only for heat generation but because of the torque produced.
