" Last In Line" Scorpion Tuber

Heres a teaser shot of my Scorpion Drooper Tuber project "Last In Line" .

Featuring a Death Metal Garage (DMG) aluminum tuber chassis. Ive dubbed it "Last In Line" because its the last of the DMG's short nosed tubers, the jig has been changed and they wont make them exactly like this any more. It also happens to be one of my favorite old CD's.

Ill start on building the axles, tranny, etc tomorrow night.
Current plans include a 55T, Rebel2 or Rooster Crawler, 645MG to get her rolling, Elite 7 cell 1500 2/3A pack, a TQ3, and any tire besides the stinky rock lizards.. The tuber also needs body panels of course.

But the only way is down"

Looking good so far!!

You guys really have to see these frames to understand how nice they are. They are beautiful pieces and the craftsmanship is insane.

Can't wait to see the rig running. I am diggin my scoprion so far, I am sure you will like it too.

Hey Josh, we missed you at the comp saturday. I kicked some booty for a change. "thumbsup"

Harley is right, pics dont do these chassis justice. Right before finally assembly Ill polish it up real nice to bring out the BLING factor.

If I understand the rules of this forum correctly, Im not allowed to give out info on where to get these chassis until those people pay for a vendors star. Im not sure of their plans yet, IF they decide to move forward with vendors status here Ill gladly tell everyone where to get one.

Congrats on the performance man! I really wish I could have made it, I really like Hill Park too.

Any plans for a dig? Seems to help quite a bit over at long view. I am looking forward to the next comp (it will be the first time I have run the same rig at 2 different comps or get together :D).

Can't wait to compete against this thing! HURRY UP!!! :D

RivBlueNoma 08-28-2007 07:28 PM

Too much other stuff going on, life, family, and the 1:1 trucks come 1st. Hill park was a blast, that crack/creavice kicked averyones butt's. Saturday was my 1st time using a front dig, and it was a life saver. Every comp rig from now on will get a front dig, including this tuber. "thumbsup"

I probably wont be done by the next comp. Ill have to use my BMVII TLT. But Ill bring my pile of parts to show my progress.

Small update: Axles are assembled.

And now something for my fellow pic whores.

Any chance of adding "color" to the tubing? Regardless, it looks like it'll be pretty cool when its done.. Yet another thread to consistently check. (I'm soaking up everything I can)

RivBlueNoma 08-28-2007 10:29 PM

Nope, I wont color the tubing. It would look cool for a while, but would look beat after a a few good crawl sessions. It will get a hood, side panels, and a roof panel made of lexan to keep it comp legal, those panels will get painted. The tubing will be polished to a mirror/chrome like finish. 8)

lets hope they deside on vendor status, I am looking for a tuber, and that one is nicely diferent. I'm thinking super gloss jet black, with the wet look hardener.....

Polish then shoot it with Dura Coat gloss clear to keep it nice. It's a gun finish that is crazy hard.

DieselPhotos 08-28-2007 10:35 PM

Good Point. Forgot about the whole "what If I uh... land tubing side down" concept.

I'm looking for a chassis, and I've been watching the threads in here. (I'd be using Axial parts [I'm new.. so yeah...]).

Best of luck with the build. Cant wait to see the finished product.

Got a little more done tonite. Links built, sevo plates, tranny built, etc, etc. Just a few quick pics.

This tranny is TINY! Mocked it up in there to see how it fits, got tons of room. "thumbsup". Cant see in the pics but I already added washers to the upper links.
The axial kit is a breeze, makes for a speedy assembly. My only complaint so far is a couple of screws. One is missing all together and the other had some deformed threads. Other than that Im impressed so far.

I can't wait to get my hands on the Axial tranny so that I can add it to the tranny guide!

Youll love it, compared to the B4 tranny, its lighter (the B4 has heavier outdrives and motor plate), its easier to mount because it sits flat and has FOUR mounting screws (Woo!). Its almost a copy of the B4 with better mounting points, more case reinforcement and it looks like the tranny can be reversed also. This thing could have tons of uses, we may even start seeing this in some DO cars.

im thinking of picking up one of those trannys for my tuber ive been working on
