Hey EeePee,
Where'd you get the nice looking metal tray? This is a great idea

It's from a toolbox. Used to make seperate compartments in a drawer. Any piece of plastic with some sort of rigidity would work. Mine's somewhat flexible.

That's right.

The screw keeps it attached, and the two posts keep it centered.

this is a great idea! but you also have to let them know to shave the plastic mount to the middle line, so the drive shaft can move freely

I don't have clearance issues.

Thanks.

Default Works great

Thanks - awesome idea. I completed the mod to my AX10 a couple days ago and I love it. Far superior to mounting the electronics to the underside of the stock battery plate.

Thanks Chad.

It's a great truck. I bought the servo and battery mount from Axial for the front axle, and went to a small Thunder Power 1320 Lipo.

I like it even better.

I've just built my AX10, my first ever r/c car btw, and after reading this thread I started to look around for bits and bobs to mount my electronics to also.

I have an Airtronics MX-3 setup, and the receiver fits perfectly in the 4xAA holder that comes with the set. So I repositioned the plastic crossmember as mentioned above, down to the upper-link position, screwed through the batter holder, then popped the receiver right into - doesn't even need velcro, and it's kinda protected too.

I also dropped the front plastic cross-member to the same upper-link position, and screwed the spare servo plate to it, and attached my Novak Rooster to it with foam-tape. Then I bit the bullet and split my new 4200mAh stick up, and strapped the 6 cells around the front axle / servo area. It's all made the world of difference. Would I still need lead weights in my wheels, considering I have 6 large cells over the front axle? Would that help too, or just add unneccessary weight? Sorry for all the questions, btw...

Man, that's why I love this site. I like that way better than the lexan tray attached to the upper links. I am going to change mine.
