Default AX10 MantaChassis Droop.

I got my AX10 and wanted to do something different.
I like my drooped J2-TT WK, so I wanted to make this drooped too.

I asked Offroader5 to use his Manta chassis design. It's easy to
make and seems to be very functional with a drooped design.
Thanks man.

This is version 1.00,,,I may redo this chassis, just have to see how
this will do first.
So here we go.

Chassis and my J2-TT drooped WK

Will that chassis hold up? Does the cutting board flex when cut that thin?

Should be fine when all the cross braces are added, I ran a CB chassis for a long time and it weld up w/o issue.

I had to redo lowerlinkmounts.
Cut out some of the trannieplate and mounted links inside the chassis.

When you redo it, I would get your hands on some black acetal. This will be much easier to cut out because you can use faster saw tools like a jigsaw and get a smooth as butt'a cut

When I designed that chassis, I made the lower link mounts so that the links would end up right around 4.5" for a 12.5" wheelbase using WK axles, so I am not surprised you needed to adjust a bit . How long are those lowers from the AX-10?

As far as the chassis holding up...if you stay within the lines when you cut (just ribbin ya Wild Trial :-P), and use all the cross brace locations (6)..like Dez said, the chassis should be more than stout. That is however based on using .187" acetal (which is what I love to use), so I am not sure of the strength difference between the cutting board plastic and acetal.

Hey Wild Trial, I am expecting you to post up any design changes you feel are needed or any problems with suspension bind, due to this being the first time this chassis has been built. I didn't even have a chance to build a proto to test like I did with the Widow, so you're the guinea pig

Well it's almost a roller.

Flex is okey ,,,no binding here.

Looking good

What length are those upper chassis spacers? How wide did you end up on the chassis overall? I am wondering if with the Axial trans in there and the motor installed, if it will be a tight fit.

Offlander5,
Lower links are 120.5mm eye to eye and the upper spacers are 50.5mm. Measuring to distance between the stock AX10 chassis is around 80mm (battery is dying in the digital verns Plus they've been dropped more times than Paris Hilton).

Got some new materials today,,,so we are going to redo the chassis.
It's black acrylic fibre plates 5mm. Looks like delrin. Don't know the
US terms for this material thought.

That's sweet! It'd look cool too with some fake diamond plates on the frame...

Wild Trial that just gave me so many ideas. Is that plastic that you are using now can you put small holes in the plastic and run body panels? Accross the top on the thin part?

That shouldn't be any problem Hutch.
I'm planning to use this in my next project,
a YJ chassis.

IMHO,you'll need a lexan body on there to be legal for comps.
