| Another leaky shock question
OK, I though it was OK to add fluid to my leaky shocks on occasion, but I'm getting tired of it. I basically have the stock AX-10 RTR shocks, but I added STRC aluminum bodies, and added some teflon tape the the threads, but the still leak a bit. So I just ordered some aluminum Traxxas Big Bore shock caps that will fit and hopefully not leak at that spot. But what can I do for the other cap? I'm not sure if it is leaking at the o-ring or the threaded part, any ideas? |

I dont know if this will work for shocks, but i know when you have a hard to find leak on a 1.1 tire you submerge it under water while there is pressure in it, the bubbles will lead you to where the leak is. So in theory: what if you took all the oil out and trapped air in the fully extended shock, then slowly compress it under water, and look for some bubbles.at least that way you can pin point whether the leak is a top or bottom leak. hope this helps _murdock |

I bought a pair of Axial comp shocks and right out of the box they leaked. They leaked past the threads of the shaft end. So I tried some RTV sealant ( the copper stuff, I don't know if it matters) and put it in side on the threads. It worked haven't had a leak since. If that's where yours are leaking I'd try that.
