Yeah, I'm gonna need to see a few more like this. I'm pretty sure you might be my new hero. I've never wanted a crawler so bad in my life.

I got to take it on the rocks today. Actually, it was dark by the time I got out there. I works pretty well. I need to make a couple adjustments, but it was for the most part much better than the old linkage set-up. I tried to dial in as much squat as possible. I believe that the last thing you want in a full droop rig is the axle trying to crawl under its self. I'm having some issues with the chassis twisting to the left under load. I call it droop torque twist. Any suggestions for combating that?
My wife took the camera on a trip. You'll have to wait patiently for a more interesting background.

I agree. Don't get me wrong I am a man and do enjoy some of the nicer thing in life..BUT this is a Family envolved site no one should have to keep thier kids off the computer. There are plenty of sites for posing if you like.
I enjoy going through this site with my kids.

Go get a star Bug Boy! In the mean time enjoy the site for FREE and Bug off! There is nothing wrong with the pics, just a cool AX-10 and a nice back ground.

BTW: Keep you're kids off the computer

I don't have a droop rig put together yet(my gopher is naked) but I have always wondered if something along the lines of having an elastic or shock-cord running from the shock mounting point on the chassis to the axle would be useful. One on each corner for each shock. Basically doing the same job as an internal spring... but on the outside... and tension/resistance/whatever could be easily adjusted rather than tearing apart a shock to change the spring.

kawika is a member of our club and a good friend .........let him do what ever he likes on HIS thread, you don't have to look at it if you don't like it or if you don't want your kids to see it. and like i said before, you probably didn't even see it the first time like the rest of us..........until you read a few more post and then went back to the first. there is nothing porn about it, just some nice background so chill out and let the man have his thing. i know ian, and he wouldn't do anything degrading or offending.

I also have a Gopher and was wondering if yours was threaded 6-32 for the shock mounts (I think they all are!). What did you do for the shock mounts?

Use nitro fuel line tubing inside the mounting hole and some 6/32" bolts (Du-Bro makes them). Also, stealing kawika's idea, I used washers under the bolt heads to keep everything nice and snug (i.e., no risk of the fuel line slipping back over the bolt head).

Nice rig by the way kawika. I finally got mine put together thanks to your advice. Now I've got to mess around with link lengths (only getting about 1.75" clearance at full compression). Always something!

Ok, not sure what your doing with fuel line tubing. The holes in the chassis is threaded 6-32 which is larger then the standard 4mm shock mounting so are you using the fuel line like a helicoil? If thats so that makes me wonder if i can get a 4mm helicoil?

c'mon man there werent any nips or lips, give it a break. Nobody said this was a family oriented site, there are rules. but in this case non of them were broken. it is however loaded with info that helps others learn more about things such as link geometry and shock mounting.

BTW ian i like the new shock mounts interesting how you cut and notched the angle aluminum. id bet it works good. are you done with the scaler yet????? looks like we are gonna have to put a november gtg on.

put the fuel tubing into the shock eyelet, then thread your 6-32 screw through it, then into the chassis.

The fuel tubing will give enough flex for the shock to move, but not slip anywhere.
