| Built the wife a comp rig.....
Well, I talked her into at least trying a comp out, and with the recent high turnout of females at the sercrc comps she reluctantly agreed. So I rang up the good people at The Crawler Store and got me a box of parts to built a reliable comp truck out of. I had a bunch of electronics that I wasn't using so the scorpion seemed like the best bet. Plus they seem to be great with a few simple mods. Axial Scorpion kit, Holmes Hobbies 850kv Crawlmaster for her, 3800kv T-rex helicopter outrunner for me and my rock racing buddys, Quark 33 esc, Holmes Hobbies Cool BEC, 3 cell 1100 mah lipo, Rock lizard tires, axial rims, TCS knuckles (front), TCS C's (front), TCS 4 link plates, TQ-3, Tower Pro 945, HPI Bronco body. I made a few changes to the truck. One of the best mods was the Crawler Store 4 link mounts, they get rid of the stupid 3 link y thingy that doesn't work. The boomerang plate in teh back realy cleans up teh rear axle. It looks so sharp. Also it allows for some geometry changes, I have raised the upper links at the axles and it seems to help alot with the axle steer, it still swings like a monkey in a tree but oh well. I will probably convert this over to a GC-1 in a week or so anyway. I also put the rubber stopper that goes on the shocks on teh inside to lower the ride height and limit the articulation. It sits pretty low now, but not to low. Also I finaly bit the bullet and did my own body. Realy hard, 2 colors. Whew I thought I was going to die. I haven't mounted it yet, I'm just to nervous. The second best mod was sand blasting all of that ugly green of of all the parts. I don't know who's idea that was......

Looks great. Nice body and truck. I would change those tires though I've heard bad things about them.

Removing anodizing also does not make them more prone to bending, breaking or snapping. | |

Nice rig Kamikaze, nice paint job,i also lowered my ax-10, but did lower it a little bit more, got some bent links and swapped three of the stock springs for wheely king ones, a little softer and left the stock one on the torque twist side, it made a huge improvement, i also got the same mounts you have from TCS + the axle batt mounts, just waiting for them to show up and i will put them on, i will also inboard the lower links into the skidplate.

How's that "little" battery working out for you? I thought about trying something that size but the one I saw was only 15c and didn't have a balance lead. Whats the specs on that one?

Its this one, http://www.cheapbatterypacks.com/mai...&man=PQ&cat=PQ I origionaly got it for a park flyer but found that it works great for a 2.2 truck. I like that it tones down the max torque of a brushless motor by limiting the amps it can draw. It does work surprizingly well though. |
