Default Battery hold down - Free and easy mod

Here is what I did and it holds just as good as zipties. Since I didn't use the upper battery plate and velcro straps. I just mounted the straps under some battery mount plates I bought from one of the vendors. And if you didn't have the battery mounts you could just use screws to hold it to the axle.

They are the ones that came with the AX10 kit and I did not modify them other then cutting a hole for the screws to go thru.

the batteries that you have used in this pack of the photo, are 2/3 or Sub C type, as the batteries of the rotostart.

They are the sub C type. I dont have a 2/3 to see if the straps are long enough but I am sure longer straps are available.

The straps should need to be SHORTER for the 2/3a's

Gotcha, thanks for the info. I thought my sub C's were smaller. Not sure how big the 2/3 cells are since I dont have any. So I guess the stock straps would work just fine then. cool

If I remember correctly, they are a shade bigger in diameter and only about 2/3 the length of a AA cell.

I thought you got 2/3 cells, are those the packs you got from us? If so they are 2/3a's.

I just used the kit battery tray and mounted it on the front axle. I used the servo mount as a template, centered it on the axle and drilled three new holes. That way I use the existing velco strap mounts to hold down a 6 cell 2/3A pack on either side of the servo. Works great and nothing extra to buy,

Looking back at the pics, they do look a bit small to be a sub C.

I found the package and it says "Supercharge Micro Battery". Not sure why I thought it was Sub C's. First RC battery I have bought in 15 years so I am still learning. Thanks all
