Default Electronics Layout

Hi guys

I now have all my Eletronics to put in my ax-10 although i am still waiting for the kit.

Radio - Futaba 4YF-FM 4 Channel Radio
Servo - Scanner RC SSV-9766MG
Motor - LRP Truck Puller 2
ESC - Mtroniks Viper
Battery - 2300 mAh NiCd Stick Pack

I have been looking at the layout and am thinking of putting the motor battery under the tray mounting the reciver and reciver battery on the top of the tray and the esc on the back axle.

Do you guys think this setup will be ok or do you have and other suggestions

Thanks guys

Peewee

biggest importance of where you mount just one oblect IMO iss he battery, You want it to be as far forward and as low as possible. BTW welcome to RCC!

The lower you can make the center of gravity the better. Here is an example of one option.

ESC - mounted to the rear upper links with a plastic plate zip-tied to the links.

Battery - on the front axle either side of servo (you can buy battery packs like this pre-made now from vendors on this site)

Receiver - servo taped to the side of the trans.

Well I guess yotachump posted up at the same time - basically same set-up,,,, works great.

monterey,
I don't know if you know this but carbon fiber affects radio reception. I don't know if it is affecting yours but I fly helicopters also and wrapping the antenna wire around carbon fiber is a no-no. I've seen a lot of glitches from wrapping the wire around CF. I really like the layout you have.

My front axle plates are not installed yet but my battery will be on the front axle. Everything else is fairly clean and out of the way. Not too concerned about any heat build up between the Mamba Max and motor, we're crawling here not going fast so heat build up isn't an issue.

Just wanted to add that I learned that fact after crashing my 1/10 scale buggy at full speed against a wall. Yeah, I also wouldn't recommend to warp an antena around carbon fiber. But maybe statcic charges deveolpes more intesively at higher speeds (more friction with air), so for crawling it is not problem? Maybe so .

i prefer the method of battery over front, leave stock battery plate mount esc, reciever all underneath it . looks smooth and keeps things out of the way just a little .02 later

lower the COG even more by moving everything as low as possible. i think the battery plate looks bad, but thats just my opinion.the way i did is really simple and look great

Yes I did know that. Thanks. It is just a strip of lexan with a decal on it. No glitching at all.

Here's some photos of my setup with custom esc and reciever mounts in the tri-link areas and top plate permenantly removed. Also shown are Traxxas big bore shocks with uper caps modified to ball links.
