J2-TT/Axial SL I've been blown away by the Axial axles and tranny I am running on my tuber so far but I am not totally sure a tuber is the best way to go. I wanted to try something out that I know would work well with a bit of a twist. I wanted an superlight (SL) comp rig, hopefully less than 4 lbs but close would be good. I got my second J2-TT from Reign Products, its the new narrow chassis. I wanted to use most of the stuff from the axial kit. Everything has to stay low, no wheel weight will be used but all electronics will be light, low, and placed right. I mounted the links below the Reign Link Plate to keep the links as low and as close to parallel as possible. Upper shock mounting might change for more progressive geometry but I want to try it here first. I got it pretty much finished up. Everything is mounted low and forward. My 8s packs aren't here yet so some 6s packs will work for now. I found out one of the rear shocks has a bent shaft so off to the LHS tomorrow. Also, I couldn't get full steering with the shocks on the outside so they moved in. I love how narrow low this is."thumbsup" Every time I build a Reign chassis they go together so smoothly and easy. Here's the pics http://i146.photobucket.com/albums/r...c/IMGP2636.jpg http://i146.photobucket.com/albums/r...c/IMGP2637.jpg |
I had a Parma 34 body laying around so I decided to use it. Just a quick and dirty paint job. It fits perfectly, sits super low and kinda has a different look. I found out I definitely need softer springs. The thing that is blowing me away is its stability. It does not want to roll"thumbsup". Well that's it, hopefully some action pics later today. http://i146.photobucket.com/albums/r...c/IMGP2638.jpg http://i146.photobucket.com/albums/r...c/IMGP2639.jpg http://i146.photobucket.com/albums/r...c/IMGP2640.jpg http://i146.photobucket.com/albums/r...c/IMGP2641.jpg http://i146.photobucket.com/albums/r...c/IMGP2642.jpg http://i146.photobucket.com/albums/r...c/IMGP2645.jpg |

Super light is totally 2008 man! So is no wheel weights. Because your wheels should be heavy. But you sold the sweetest HEAVY wheels in the world to me! HAHAHAH!!! |

I love me Reign chassis's. They are great. I have two K2-3L's and one J2-TT already. I have been considering getting a second J2-TT to replace my sons AX-10 chassis as well. I agree that low CG and lite weight is the way to go. Nice rig and body. I have the same body sitting collecting dust and it's nice to know it will fit easily. I guess I should paint it and get some use from it. Are those standard Maxx Big Bore shocks (length)? Do you happen to know if a R2D will fit in the J2-TT narrow chassis? |

The R2D would be really tight if it does fit. The shocks are some traxxas aluminum longs, not big bores though. |
Thanks for the info on the R2D. What is the length of the shocks then? If I do this, I want to have a good idea of what parts are needed so I can get all the parts ordered at once. |
