Hey guys well I got my x-trail chassis today and been trying to put it together... i got it all linked up but I cant get the shocks to hook up properly  When I do put them on where they look like they go, they are bent and wont compress properly :-( Am I just stupid or do I need some thing else that i am missing... Thanks for any help, hoping to have this done before Saturday.... :-( or doesn't all the original ax-10 parts work with this? starting to frustrate me

Try putting the black plastic limiter that you have on the shock shaft on the outside put it in the inside of the shock to limit your down travel

The stock shocks are pretty long for a scaler chassis 134mm you should be around 100mm

hahaha thanks man I will try changing the spacer tomorrow to the inside of the shock... i'm looking at getting some other shocks just wanna run these as a temporary till funds allow :-P but see how the shocks are bent in the rear straight on photo... Should I have another spacer or should i move where the shock is mounted on the axle or something? Everything is dead standard outta the booklet... except the xtrail chassis lol...

This photo... shocks are actually bent around the chassis

Try removing the springs to see if that helps. I think most people running the X-Trail are using no springs to make the scale chassis a droop set up.

Yah that is a droop setup and you do want to run internal springs and they put the shocks upside down to put the weight lower

You can use the shocks with the springs you have. You need to put the shocks on the inside of the mounts though (on the outside of the mount closest to the differential).

They used the shocks with springs in Zach's build this weekend, take a look at it.

Take a look at the way this one is set up.

TCS also has some new internal springs for the Axial shocks.

ok will give it another shot later... also i see on all the builds here there is another piece of silver aluminum where the top of the shock is mounted to the chassis... Do I need to custom make that or will the mounts work without it?

And obviously I will need to use different longer screws to mount the shocks on the inside of their mounted point on the axles?

Cheers...

Also Harley 0706, Any chance of a pic of the way you have the shocks mounted to the axels? Thank Again...

Here is how I ran my shocks front and rear. I used shorter aluminum shocks but this should work in a droop setup with the axial shocks.

EDIT: You will need to use a longer screw to mount them as shown.

We have the hardware kit for the xtrail up on the site finally:

http://www.tcscrawlers.com/TCS-X-Tra...t-p-16649.html

This will have all the needed hardware and includes the internal springs. We are also working on a set of instructions for the kit.

ok guys had another look tonight... i setup the shocks as droop using pen springs inside... then for the mount position i just changed the link and shock around on the axle, then cut and old antenna for the spacer at the top of the shock... Will run like this on the weekend to see how it goes... Anyone see any advantages or disadvantages of this? Cheers...
