If I were you, I'd leave the good stock on in the front and go pick up a set of the rustler shafts to make the rear. The rustler shaft are made out of a stronger plastic. If you go this route, figure out the length of brass tubng you need first. take the 2 female shafts and side one in each end. Cut one end flush and put your pins/screws in. If this isn't totally making sense let me know and I will sketch up some more diagrams.

Lightbulb Extended Rear Drive Shaft

I extended the rear shaft on my ax-10, i used two traxxas shafts male halfs one connetcted to the trany the other connected to the diff. then i cut the mount for the yoke off of one female half afixed it to the male half on the diff side with J.B. Plastic weld from your local hardwar store and whala. I have been running this setup for a few weeks now and no problems.

Huge thanks to derwood21

This was my booty fab one...and the epoxy didn't hold so I was able to salvage the axial shaft and that's what I used for the new extended one because if fit tighter than the rustler shaft.

Rustler shaft is a direct fit for the front. and I have one spare if my rear shaft starts popping I'll make another out of the rustler shafts.

Everything cut up.

I used the stock link threads for pins.

And done

Put the battery on the rear temporarly till christmas when I get my new batteries and weight packs on the front so it's not super biased to the rear.

Should look alot better once the wheel spacers, rockstompers, and saddle pack batteries are on .

I also tipped my pinion up for driveshaft clearance...lots of wheelbase but tons of clearance with the bent links and harsh pinion angle...good thing ujoints are cheap And there will be even more when the rockstompers go one

Thanks...I'm going to a longer wheelbase. Tires help climbing but wheelbase plays a big roll too. With bigger tires my useable wheelbase decreases and even with stock tires I don't like how short the wheelbase is...kinda jeepish. So I'm stretching to make up for the bigger tires and still add to my useable wheelbase. test run will be on saturday. I also wanted to try an offset weight distribution.

The temp body is on for now...rockwerks is sending me out another set of window stickers because I lost my first set, wicked service .

Alright the results are in...unreal

This is stock setup and I could also do this climb with the battery on the rear axle and weightpacks up front:

This is with the bigbores...no dice too low = no breakover:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EN8WuEkmcEY

This is with the stretch, I didn't even have to try the same line, just took the rediculous line for a shorter wheelbase :

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wSs1obwGNgo

And my buddy trying with the rockstompers and stock bumpstops inside the shocks to lower the ride hight..same issues as the bigbores:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2bHRyhe_7nk

That was all just in one spot to get a comparison but the lines I can take now are unreal. I just opened up a whole new box of fun. The offset weight I'm sure plays a big role too and once the wheel spacers are on it wont look so long.

With the rockstompers (which didn't work very well):

This is a quick comparison of axials vs rockstompers.

Rockstompers with no foams and 1/8 holes drilled in, no problem with the tires flexing with this set up...they just don't hook up and slide all over the place:

Rock lizards...no prob and it didn't matter how I tried to drive up it it walked it every time:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9a6hPwJqRFI

And another set, my buddy with the lizards no problem, lifts a tire but climbs fine:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HxE9isX5zq4

Mine stretched with rockstompers and same line...nothin:

I had to go back out because I was so stoked on it. Here's some better vids that show that one line alot better.

This one does a way better job at showing the climb:

Well I shortened it to 14.5 inches which is perfect so that's 2" stretch over stock. I ordered some losi rockclaws because I borrowed a friends to see how they worked..... wow is all I have to say.

The the next thing in the works is front dig. I set it up so all the sliding and disconnecting happens inside the shaft so it doesn't look so bunk.

So a cut female shaft gets pined deep in the brass pipe. On the male shaft you slide a cut female shaft over so as the shaft disconnects the sleeve keeps the male centered in the brass pipe so it can engage.

Female pinned inside and the blue line is the end of the female shaft so this would be disconnected. Simple and looks pretty lol.

My servo will be mounted on the rear axle with a link directly from the servo to the collars that need to be made. I'm gonna do the collars out of metal nuts. I tried the stock spring spacers but they are too flimsey. Video of how it will slide.

the videos with the 15 inch wheel base look like my toyota trying to manuver with both axles locked!!! outrageous!!!. that servo will soon sound like my steering box!!! those rock stompers look about as enticing as boggers on the con!! no EFFING traction glad i went with claws

That's why I wanted front dig .

So it works...but right now the colar spins when locking the rear tires and twist the linkage off...so need to hold the linkage to keep the colar from spinning. You can see it spin in the video on the kitchen floor.
