| R2 trans vrs home built dig mod
Ok I have done some searching and I have found a few threads about the R2 trans, and I have found a few on building your own dig mod. I have yet to find a comparison on the two. Plus and minus on both. Looks like with the R2 you only have one spur gear option. With the home built I have not seen any down sides other than building it. Building it is no prob for me. It looks like the cost of the home built would be comparable to the R2, or am I off base? Thanks munch for any info. |

really it's comes down to you. If you want it that bad and are not mecanicaly inclined, then buy one. If your cheap, creative and good with your hands just make one.

Thanks guys...I have realy looking at Jeepster's and Sr.Irie's I have also talked to Bender about his. Very nice home builts. I guess I was a little off on the cost of the homebrew. I guess from the video's posted here that they are just as smooth as the R2 tranny. I will give it a try here in a couple of days. Thanks for the help |

Disconnecting the power to the rear axle, then applying a brake on the rear axle. Once set up properly, apply the front burn, let'em eat and you can get your rig to turn sharper than if you have 4WS. | |

I have a R2 w/ Disconnect and I would probably suggest making your own dig. RC4WD's R2's have a few issues. The dig shaft slides on bushings, the main drive gears rotate on bushings and getting the dig to disengage when it is in a bind can be difficult. Overall, I am disappointed with the R2. I would make a dig before I bought another R2D.
