TCS Trail frame Vs Stock AX 10
 

How much performance lost is there when you use a scale frame like the TCS frame Vs the stock AX 10 setup? I love the looks of the scale trucks, but I don't want to give up too much performance.

The suspension geometry is retained from the stock chassis. If you shorten the wheelbase to fit a scale body then you will lose performance but if you keep the same 12.5" WB it is only dependant on your shock setup. you could still have a very capable rig but have great scale looks.

I went to the scale frame and I think it improved the ax10.
although I went to a 1.9 scaler."thumbsup"

Thanks, I will be using the HPI Rubicon body, so the WB will still be 12.5. What shock setup would be the best for this body and frame combo? I was hoping to use my stock shocks with the med. Axial springs. Can you still get the full turning radius without tire rubbing the chassis using 2.2? It looks like they might rub when the shocks are compressed all the way with the steering at full lock. I will be thinking seriously about getting the chassis.

I was looking at the 1.9 setup. I guess what I need to do is build a scaler and one for comp. I don't have the cash right now to do both. I love the scale rigs, just didn't want to kill the AX- 10 crawling ability since this will be the only rig I have right now.

If you go with 12" ~ 12.5" WB and 2.2 wheels, the Big Bores (or similar length shocks) are the way to go for ride height and performance. You lose a little bit of articulation from the stock AX-10 but not much. Where you place your shocks (on the inside or outside of the frame rail) will effect it to.
