Default Removing the pinion gear E-Clip

I installed the pinion gear on the shaft and then the e-clip. Forgot to check for endplay of the pinion on the shaft and there is too much. I can't get the e-clip off without damaging the pinion, e-clip or both! It is ALOT tighter than any other e-clip that I've ever used on other RC's. Axial didn't even put one extra eclip in the kit!

Has anybody successfully removed and reinstalled these clips and how did ya do it?

ya i used the rong pin and i had to take mine off. take a pair of needle nose pliers and put each piont at each of the points on the open end and push, and also i used a regular pair of pliars and i put one side on the open side of the e clip and the other side of the pliers on the pinion and that will unseat it enough to usr a pair of needle nose to get it off and last one take needle nose and put one point into the back of the e clip where they is a space and pull i have succesfully performed all of these but watch out the clip will go flying so have you hand over it when its going to come out

needle nose pliers. You have to try and open the clip by bending the prongs back. Its a small little bugger but it is do-able.

You might also try a sharp pick. I have a small pick set just for doing this sort of thing. If you can get the end inside the E portion of the clip, you might be able to pop it off that way.

Yes, of course...but this one fits way closer and tighter...not complaining. Broke the tip off my X-Acto knife trying already.

Was going to buy those but they were out of stock.

Ever hear of E-CLIPS? These are not snap rings, but thanks. My Snap-On snap ring pliers won't work for this.

Found my small 90* pick with a nice sharp tip and that worked great.
