4 bent links on ax

has anyone put 4 bent links on the ax?

it makes the truck 12.75 inches long

is it possible to cut down the bent links 1/8 inch on both ends of the truck to get it down to 12.5 to be legal?

CRUZ CONTROL 12-23-2007 07:13 AM

like this mine it just under 14 inches but im running a da bull chassis from double j "thumbsup"

yeh..im trying to get down to 12.5 for comps....

and with double bent links im at 12.75

need to shave 1/4 and wondering if its possible to cut down the bent links 1/8 on each end of the truck or will it mess them up

It seems like with my driving style bent links in front increase the flat area on the belly and doesn't break over edges as much without getting hung up. Everyone's style is different though. IMO Bent in the back helps carry the rig over edges and keep the fronts planted better helping them pull the rest of the rig over the break . Just shave em down for wheelbase.

I have the bent links on mine all the way around and I am at 12.5"

I would check the measurements again I put bent links on front and rear and its still at 12.5 but i also lowered the ride height. If that dosent help. You could always get the bent links from tcs theirs are a little shorter than the ones axial makes those are what my Buddie runs on his.

I just measured mine and I have the Axial bent links. Wheel base measured 12.5 inches.

What holes do you have your links mounted in? I had to move one axle from outside holes to the middle ones to get the 12.5" originally, I put on bent links and it didn't change the wheelbase at all.

Do you notice any advantage running your links backwards? I like the looks of it like that but wondered if there were any reason for doing it?

I see it as a disadvantage, a flat link will slide easier than an angled link. When you run them the right way they are flat, backwards and they are still angled. Here they are the right way.

i am running the bent links on a gopher chassis and my WB is 13 1/2"

Thats the way I run mine but ive noticed these guys running them backwards and wondered why. I see your point on sliding but the way hes got them there is less to slide on. Id like to see 2 setups side by side to see ground clearance.

Personaly I think a link can get to high and hinder forward motion. I like my links to place the tire on an object, if the link is to high it can get onto the upper half of the tire instead of sliding a little and hitting the tire lower.

I get what you mean now "thumbsup" It would have probs sliding from the tire back through the link to the chassis right at the bend in the link.

loose links?

I got a set of the TCS bent links and put them on the rear of my crawler. I can't figure out how to tighten them up to where they don't rotate a bunch. It seems they either pivot a lot on the ball ends and change where the bent section is, or they loosen up and pivot all the way down to where they are hanging down real low.........what am I doing wrong:?: Do I need nuts on there to lock it down or something:?: Thanks in advance"thumbsup"

either screw more threaded rod into the link or the rod end so they align and meet up snug. you could also use a washer I suppose
