|  Christmas Axial, Finally tweaked out
I love this thing, don't get me wrong I love to build scalers too, but this was a fun quick build and totally easy for anyone who does the scale rigs from scratch. Performs unbelievably after modifications: --lowered stance-- with rubbers inside front shocks (cut down springs) rear rubbers are half size of the fronts (cut down springs) made 70mm upper link extenders and relocated upper links made 101mm lower links and bent to 30deg (moved inside frame) made 6cell 4300mah duratraxx battery packs for front axle put in r2 trans 3oz weight in each front tire (stick on wheel weights) Here is how it turned out: Last edited by Steveakus; 12-30-2007 at 06:19 PM. |

Curious, why did you take the Axial tranny out and use a R2?

my back yard course has some very steep climbs and descents, mainly for the descents the r2 trans holds the truck back better, a few of the descents have steep and tricky transitions and the axial tranny never worked on it, after I put the r2 in it made it no problem. Hopefully the rain will subside some day soon and I can get a video up of the backyard course, Im thinking of starting some comps here, It would awesome for that. |

I know, I screwed up the paint really bad in the back so I just went nuts on cutting it out, I think I might do a tuber with panels eventually anyway....

Holding the truck has nothing to do with the transmission, unless its not opperating correctly. A transmission should be smooth and not bind up. What you are seeking is better ESC drag brake. My Mamab Max holds my AX-10 just fine. It'd hold my 10lb Maxx rig too. To each his own..... | |

I guess the gearing made the difference for me, I didn't have a drag braked esc lying around, but I did have an r2 unused.
