Default Pics of My Truck!

Hi, I've posted before in the Venom Creeper Forum and recently sold it and purchased a Ridgecrest. I think it's a solid truck no major issues outside of the shocks being very low on oil and some leakage. I made some mods CKRC steering kit, Hot Racing 2.2 beadlocks, Hitech 7954 steering servo, wheel / axle weights and flipped the shock mounts. The wheels gave me some more width and the shock mounts added length and lowered it so I'm doing some nice crawling!

Nice. Plan to move the battery to the front?

Change your king pin screws from the self taping wood screws to M3 machine screws first thing. or you will end up like this.

I'd ditch that steering set-up. Doesn't work nearly as well as CKRC says it does. Can read all about it in the Wraith section.

Haven't seen the write-up on the ckrc steering but it works great for me though I did have to modify it. I've tested the steering and front end by driving over a 1 1/2 ridge that seperates the street from my driveway and haven't had any front end breakage. I have the integy kingpin screws coming so hopefully that won't be a problem. I'm going to leave the battery where it is for now as I've added 7oz. of weight to the front.

Vanquish makes a tie rod and drag link out of titanium and is perfect for the ar60 axle. just food for thought.

I still don't understand what's the concept behind the "suicide-steering" kit from CKRC??
anybody know?

I tried it on a Wraith and it caused the servo to eat a set of gears. Dunno why, but I changed it back to a stock style config and all has been well for about a year.

Suicide steering would work correctly if the servo was in the center of the axle. Since it is offset it gives you different steering geometry depending on if you're steering left or right.

Here's the link but it looks like they are out of stock. The steering setup works great for the speeds a stock Ridgecrest puts out. Has anyone else tried it?

I tried that set-up, which is why my first comment said to ditch it. Had it on my wraith for about 5 minutes before i ripped it back off.

I honestly don't see the allure of the Ridgecrest. Can someone fill me in? Is it supposed to be a crawler hybrid or something?
