Also Iam curious to know how the tires dont hit the lower chassis links with all that steering. And the increased toe out will make that issue worse, that is the inside tire will point further into the turn so it will catch the links. Ive had this problem on my ridgecrest even wi just universals and a good servo...nothing special about my steering setup. The description of the ckrc suicide steering setup describes Ackerman, but I dont get how that setup would give more ackerman, and more importantly why that would ever be helpful. Either I am confused or that description is all over the place....both are possible. |

Don't even bother with this type of steering, it's more of a headache than it's worth.

I made my own with two links not sure on the size. I did it strictly for clearance. The DVDs in the front dessinetly help for some angle but you need high steer knuckles for that kind of angle

I bought it from them. Also bought the axles and the vanquish stuff just like he has and I get the same steering as he gets. 35 bucks is not that bad at all. My time is more valuable than to make one. You get anodized parts, a heavy duty steering servo arm and all the hardware. It was a good deal for me and super easy to install. I have seen jakes wraith (the one in the pics) do lines I thought only moa types could do. His crawls amazing. And it's super light. And zero binding steering as well. Super smooth.

I built my own on my ridgecrest, haven't gotten around to upgrading the axle shafts yet, but I need to. It steers so far over the dogbones slide out of position and lock up the wheel. My friend I run with did the same as me but has a kit Wraith with the better axle joints and zero problems. The extra ground clearance in the front is a nice bonus :-)

Im not saying your wrong but every xr uni Ive seen need to be ground so they dont bind themselves. My wraith unis are the same way. Past 50° or so the yokes rub.

Looking forward to getting the cvd's, had to order them as my LHS didn't have any. As to tires rubbing links, i'm fairly wide spaced, running 2.2 pitbulls on Duratrax cliff climber rim is what's working for me. I also have a set of RC4WD 2.2 Mickey Thompson claws on stock ax-10 beadlocks, those would rub like crazy if I put them on this rig, so I got lucky on my combo for this rig :-)

Search the wraith section and read on this. There's a reason guys switch back. Suicide steering would work correctly if the servo was in the center of the axle. Since it is offset it gives you different steering geometry depending on if you're steering left or right. Its not incapacitating, but many of the mods we do on rigs offer minute improvements ...why do a mod that makes minute detraction from performance?
