I would go on to Axail web site and look at both.
IMO the wraith is more of a basher and the ridgecrest is more a crawler starting point yet both can do all of the above it boils down to which one you prefer.
I'm sure you would be happy with either one.

Honestly, I would go with Traxxas. Save yourself a headache.

Think Chevotafun hit the nail on the head. Want a basher that can still crawl (with a more scale look), then a wraith. Want more of a crawler, get a ridgecrest. Few small hiccups to sort out, and you'll have a great little reliable rig.

I'd recommend a nitro as well, hear they are wicked rock crawlers!

i am leaning to the wraith for now. there seems to be a big aftermarket for this truck.

wish there saw more support in my area so i can see them in person but there is not a single rock track in lower alabama that i am able to find

i think i am going for the wraith unless someone can change my mind

What are you looking to do with it? That will help. Are you in to a scale appearance? Is immediately available after market parts important to you? Do you want to modify it or run it stock?

I originally purchased the ridgecrest and after a week I bought a wraith chassis and swapped everything over to it. I prefer the wraith more because of the longer wheel base and looks.

I was thinking of doing that. How much did it end up costing for the conversion?

We have two wraiths and a ridgecrest, I think the ridgecrest is a little more durable in stock form, (probably the pound lighter). performance is comparable, ridgecrest crawls a little better. Waith looks way cooler.

just looking for something to blast around my place. there are no clubs or comps around so it will be driven on my 15 acres. i want to be able to find parts and upgrade if something were to give out.

the true scale is not a big deal either

also want something with some speed and the ablity to climb at the same time

I got the chassis, skid, links and full interior for 67 shipped on ebay and I bought the body panels for 25.

The links are the same length between the wraith and the ridgecrest. The skids are different on the two trucks which makes the wheelbase longer on the wraith.

Ridgecrest has locked diffs and high COG along with almost no lateral shock travel, so that basically means it will suck at high speeds. I think the 20T stock motor with the 20t pinion has too much top end...,i switched over to a 35T motor with much better crawlability and trailing. That being said, the machine isnt intended to go fast. Now, put actual diffs in there, lower the COG and remount the shocks to give some better side-stability...and it wouldbe OK at speed. There are some videos on URC where Jang remounted the shocks to allow for better turning at speed...called "project axial wraith"...worth checking out if you havent already.

Personally I went with the ridgecrest because the small center skid really prevents high-centerring and the shorter wheelbase makes it turn great....the wraith is inferior in these 2 respects. I think the wraith might be better at high angle of attacks given its absurdly long wheekbase...though i have modded up my ridgecrest (with insane noseweigh bias) to basically outclimb the mars rover so the wheelbase advantage of the wraith is out the window.

The only annoying thing for me about the ridgecrest RTR is that it doesnt come with front universals and the self-tapping screws are...well...a joke. However same issues with the wraith rtr. I just wish axial sold a ridgecrest kit with more goodies...similarly to the wraith kit. Alas...I digress.....
