Default Stock steering knuckle question

What are the 2 extra flanges on the back side (rear of vehicle side) of the steering knuckles for? I hate not being able to figure out the function of something and none of the replacement knuckles have them.

I believe the knuckles are used on other models that use those steering links instead of the high clearance links

Thanks. That pointed me in the right direction. The XR10 uses them to route the steering link behind the axle, with the tie rod still being in front.

Cut em off. They are for rear steer on a different model.

The knuckles and C-hubs currently used on the AR60 axle were originally used on the XR10, which used a factory BTA setup for the tie rod.

I leave the one in place that contacts the axle housing at full steering lock. It makes a good steering stop and keeps the universal shafts from binding.

No need to cut them off, leave it be. They will not hurt your setup. Unless you get universals.

Yes, leave them on they make great stops and your universals won't bind and still lots of steering.
